Sujet : The Jak and Daxter Thread

Discuss anything that relates to this game series that stars the pointy eared hero named Jak, and his obnoxious animal friend named Daxter!

I find this action adventure platform series to have a pretty original concept and interesting character designs. It's a great series to look into but it's starting to have it's flaws with later Jak and Daxter titles.

I think that the Precursor Legacy and Jak 2 were the best games out of this franchise. Precursor Legacy in my opinion had a great comical charm, with pretty vibrant visuals for it's time and really fun gameplay overall. Jak 2 is also amazing because even if it may went to a dark edgy vibe for it's sequel with some pretty difficult gameplay, but it still had some of the same presentation vibe and humorous charm like in the first game (except for all the things that aren't suitable for younger audiences). Plus, I did like the story premise and characters the best in Jak 2 with it's introduction to a new world, charming and bad ass characters to love and like and knowing Jak a bit more in this game title.

A lot of people didn't like Jak 2 that much, but I thought it was definitely the strongest game in the series. Some fans prefer Jak 3 over Jak 2, but I'm more of the opposite when it comes to this. I thought Jak 3 was good, but certainly wasn't the best. If the game had less vehicle missions and more platforming adventure, I would of loved it more. I also thought the serious and bad ass attitude was a little too overplayed with this one. Even if there was humour in the cutscenes, but there wasn't too much of it.

As for Jak X… it was addictive and fun to play this game, but story premise in this game was pretty ridiculous.

I haven't played Daxter or The Lost Frontier yet for I don't own a PSP to play these two titles.

So what are your thoughts about Jak and Daxter?
Which games did you like from this series?
What's the latest information about this game franchise?

Oh yeah, the Jak and Daxter series is awesome emoji!

I liked the first one a lot too, it was actually the first PS2 game I ever played…. years back! But I admit I was quite shocked when Jak 2 came, since it was so different to the first one. But nonetheless, Jak 2 is a very impressive game. I'm not too fond playing it much myself though, but I think the story is amazing and all the characters XD

Oh and Daxter is so damn funny, even though he can be quite annoying sometimes, but still keeps with his humor and such. I like it when he and Tess are talking, it's funny emoji

But yeah I actually didn't mind Jak 3 though… found it fun to be in the Light Jak form and such emoji

As for the PSP Daxter game and Lost Frontier… I don't know since I've never played those.

It's a shame Jak and Daxter hasnt made it to PS3 though… >.<

Like Sly Cooper maybe getting a forth game coming out, there has been rumors that Jak 4 might be coming out next year. It hasn't been official though, but if it does, that would be sweet. The only question remains, what will the story premise be? Pretty much everything has been revealed except maybe a few things, but who certainly knows.

Daxter is one of those characters that might drive you nuts at first, but can be pretty hilarious at the same time. And I'll be honest, I did laugh pretty hard at some of the cutscenes that he appeared in the first three Jak and Daxter games. I also agree that Dax and Tess are a great and funny couple in the game, although I was quite disappointed when

Tess was turned into an Ottsel at the end of Jak 3. I prefer her in her human/elfish appearance than her Ottsel look.

But perhaps that was the best way to go because it'll be awkward to see more moments with Tess going slightly bestiality on Dax. emoji That would give younger players the wrong message.

And yes, Jak's light powers was one thing that was good about Jak 3. Definitely a lot better than using dark powers. I never found Dark Jak to be that helpful unless if you have a storm of enemies coming at you.

Yeah they are a great and funny couple, but after (spoiler) happened, well yeah they don't even see each other much again ehh? But yeah, at least it can't be bestiality anymore anyways XD

But yeah I do like Daxter, even though he is quite annoying at times XD

And yeah the best thing about Jak 3 was getting to use the Light Powers as well emoji those were fun! But I have yet to play Lost Frontier… I havent heard too much good about it though, and Dark Daxter was pointless, lol.

Anything pawns over Dark Daxter anytime. Seriously… I thought he looked like the Tasmanian Devil on some wacky stuff when I spotted him in that form from Lost Frontier. For the love of criminy…

What Was High Impact Games Were Thinking When They Came Up With That Idea!?! I bet it was some kind of drug, that's for sure.

On a plus side for Dark Jak, he is wayyyy better to use and a lot more suitable in appearance and story than Dark Daxter.

yeah, Dark Daxter was so pointless, that it had nothing to do with the actual story! And those scenes with Daxter going down the drain look stupid, but funny in a way XD

Jak 1 - it was a pretty nice game. To me, it felt like Naughty Dog wanted to keep some concepts from their Crash Bandicoot series in a newer one. Did anyone else notice Daxter actually said "precursor crap" in a "Rated E for Everyone" game? Yay for overlooked things!

Jak 2 - Honestly, I love this game. The story is brilliant, the weapons are fun, the humor is clever, and overall - I find it the hardest game in the series. I loved the ending, where Daxter gets confused with time travel mumbo jumbo XD

Jak 3 - This game is good, but this is where plot holes begin to form. I thought the story was fine up until they revealed that Jak was Mar (sorry if this spoils it, but it's from 2004, people! XD). I do prefer the weapons and their upgrades in this game though. Super Nova was awesome!

Jak X - I found this to be a fun game, too. The rock music was a nice touch and fit the game well, I'd say. However, I was really disappointed when there was no free roaming. I mean, the first three games had free roaming. This one didn't! Some would understand why that makes me so disappointed. The story seemed a bit generic, but hey, it's better than what they did for Crash Team Racing.

Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier - This game is really good for a PSP game in my opinion. Yes, there's a PS2 version, but it's getting the same treatment as the PS2 Ratchet ports from PSP. So I'd rather avoid that version. The story was pretty good, but I hate the fact no other characters from previous games (apart form Keira, since Jak and Daxter were obviously gonna be in the game) were in it at all. Another major problem is that the game does have a glitch when playing in Hero Mode - if you get past a certain point (past the part where you enter that factory with all the Dark Eco). You have to go back to your ship and fly somewhere. If you go into the 'garage', the icon to hop into the ship will not appear as the garage door closes. Once it closes, it will not open again. And this is like half way through the game, I think.

I do want Jak 4 to come out, like I want Max Payne 3 to come out already.

It would be nice for Naughty Dog to work on a new Jak title. I'm starting to get slightly annoyed by the "over the top" Uncharted series at this point. I can see the appeal of it and the reason why everyone likes the franchise so much, but I think they should give the download-able content of Uncharted 2 a break and continue on with a new project at least.

Seriously Naughty Dog… what happened to you guys? emoji

Yeah, I wish there would be a new PS3 Jak, the people at Naughtydog even said that it 'Would be a shame if Jak doesnt make it to PS3' but they didn't promise they would make it… would be awesome though!

There's probably more of a chance that HIG would make another J&D game for PSP than ND making one for PS3 (Or HIG taking on the PS3 version somehow).

I would rather have Naughty Dog take a chance to do a PS3 version of a new Jak game than High Impact Games. There's something about HIG i do not fully trust on when they publish and develop games.

Well, since were talking about "what's going on with a new Jak game?", how about we discuss about other things about the previous Jak and Daxter games, such as, who are you're favourite characters in the series or which design of Jak do you like best. You know try to make the topic a bit more interesting. emoji

I forgot to mention the game Daxter XD. That game was fun, but incredibly short. I mean, "The Lost Frontier" was at least twice as long. And the difficulty curve was better in the latter. I enjoyed Daxter getting his own little adventure though, but I kind of had to facepalm when he apparently "forgot" to save Jak.

My favorite characters would have to be (in order of how aweomse I think they are) Daxter, Pecker, Keira, Jak, Ashlien (can never spell her name right), Torn and Sig.

Errol can rot in hell. I hated that guy, lol.

I see you put more love on the heroes rather than the villains in the Jak games. I actually didn't mind some of the villains in the games, especially in Jak 2.

Krew may look flabbily disgusting, but his design was rather original and unique with his large body and tiny skinny legs.

Baron Praxis might of been a jerk, but at least he had a good balance of comedy and drama in his personality.

As for Errol… he might have annoyed me in some parts of the game, but at least he was better looking than what he turned up to look like in Jak 3.

I like the male characters of the series a little more than than the female characters, so I'm more fond by Torn, Vin and even Jak… especially in his Jak 2 design. Although, the female characters were still pretty cool and bad-ass in the series. They at least can find ways to defend themselves… except maybe Tess in Jak 2, but she was quite toughen up in Jak 3.

Well,I think Jak's design in Jak 3 was the best mainly because of his ripped off sleves, his armor(once you get it), and his hair. his hair looks like yellow fire with green fire at the bottom. His arms have some muscle in it,making him look kinda buff and strong, despite being only 18.And his personality makes him a likeable character. But the rest is still the same, except for a little dirty look.

But Jak 2's design was good, too. The long hair looked really good on him at that time.So did the clean clothes and his (now) new voice. emoji

Jak 2 was amazing… really… I loved how free roaming it was (to an extent anyway) and how you could steal hover vehicles XD

JaD:The Lost Frontier was shocking. Never hand out your games to a crappy company, they really did kill it. I mean, it was fun, but it just didn't feel like JaD at all.

Jak 1 was the best. It has to be, I mean, it's the one that started it all XD I loved the cartoony style, and the colours were appealing to me, and it was really wacky.

Jak 3 was ok… but it was a bit too much having to ride vehicles and complete races, and I missed being able to run around.

I haven't played Jak X, but I have no interst in it for the moment. I watched the cutscenes on Youtube XD
