Sujet : Really Random thread

Yea, it's pretty annoying when a game is more focused on graphics and gameplay than the storyline. Also when the devs add some things that aren't necessary in the game (like the heli door-gunner missions in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon)

From what I understand the game is about exploring a huge galaxy. So huge in fact that if you… wait what?

According to RR it is unlikely you will find other players in a galaxy this scale, unlike MMOs. Yet each player adds something to the universe when they visit planets. So basicly all players are thrown in a huge playground, free to explore. Which is a neat idea, but like I said. Not a game for me.

Isn't gameplay the most vital part of the game? These are still the games, not the movies.

That depends.
Gameplay can sometimes be used as a way to enhance the story instead of the other way around.
MGS2 intentionally frustrates and deceives the player because that's what the story is about. If the gameplay was completely fine and had no cheap or boring moments then the story wouldn't have the same impact as it does.

Gameplay is essentially the most important part of a game. In the beginning games didn't even have a real story. Sure, there were some.. But nothing as deep and present like nowadays.

I know that.
I'm not defending games that use gameplay as an excuse to present their story (I know you're looking forward to it, but the Order 1886 is one of those games).
I'm defending games that decide to incorporate gameplay into the story to enhance it (MGS2, Mass Effect, The Walking Dead).

Oh, sorry. My reply wasn't for you, it was ment for Ankadewo.
Who's posts never show in the 'latest posts' section. Which is curious…

Mass Effect (and other BioWare games) is indeed a fine example! This way of storytelling is my favourite. It's very immersive and it's these kinds of cinematic games that are my favourites.

Nothing posted via the mobile version of the site shows up. Hopefully this is fixed in V3.

Okay then. Gameplay and storyline is in the top of the priority list. Graphics? As long as it's not too cartoonish and hurting my eyes (Saints Row 4's graphics really hurt my eye and Badlands' looked too cartoonish for me)

Note: I do not own Saints Row 4. I saw the gameplay in my friend's house

@Darkstar
Oh, thats why.. I see.

@Ankadewo
Graphics… It depends. After playing on PS3 for so long I must admit I need to blink a few times when playing PS2. Even when I pick up the Wii I feel like everything is one big blur. But when it's good I'll play it, no question about it. On PS3 I haven't encountered anything 'ugly' though.

My only problem with SD games is that they look so blurry.
They've always looked that way but thanks to old TVs it was fine. Thanfully there's a Smooth option on PSOne Classics, otherwise I'd have trouble playing them.
What I can't stand are smooth 2D sprites, with those the more pixelated it is the better it looks.

So, you found a bug in the "latest post" section. Well, I sometimes find a bug on the "Who's Online" section. I see my name twice, and sometimes three times

Sorry, SD games?

Sorry, SD games?

Standard definition.

Ah, okay. I've got the perfect TV for that. It has all the outputs I need. The same TV I play my PS4 games on also supports old Pong consoles, feel unreal. It also adjusts 4:3 and 16:9 on it's own. But there is one downside… HD tvs make PS2/GC/Xbox games worse. So I usually play those on my LCD screen.
