Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is set to be the next big title for fans of the RaC series, and Insomniac Games have revealed quite a lot of new information about this game, including confirming details that we had initially suspected. Insomniac Games has been very vocal about Rift Apart on their twitter account, and have confirmed that the mysterious new character is indeed a female Lombax from an alternate dimension. Perhaps a different species of Lombax, due to the fact that she has a larger tail and silver fur. Insomniac also confirmed that you will be able to play as her in addition to Ratchet! It is unknown if this means Clank will get gameplay combined with her, or his own segments as well.

Insomniac Games also seems to have confirmed that this is a sequel to Into The Nexus, or at least a continuation in the actual storyline, not the PS4 reboot. They mentioned that Ratchet and Clank will be traveling to brand new worlds and some returning locations (including different realities of classic worlds), most of which are from the Polaris Galaxy. However, it is possible that planets from the Bogon Galaxy will return, and possible even the Solana Galaxy.

The main premise of the story is that while taking over the galaxy, Dr Nefarious accidentally breaks the fabric of time and space, causing dimensional rifts to open up all throughout the universe. Insomniac teases "familiar faces and new allies" in this action-packed adventure. Armin Shimerman, the voice actor for Dr Nefarious, says that he is honored to return to the franchise, with "witty dialogue, gorgeous graphics, and inspired talent."

Marcus Smith, the lead creative director on Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart says that the PS5's duel-sense controller allows for impressive tactile-feedback when using weaponry. For instance, The Enforcer is a double-barrel shotgun -- when firing, you can feel the tension on the adaptive triggers. Tap lightly, and it will fire one barrel; tap all the way, and you can fire both barrels. This appears to be the case for the Burst Pistol as well, which fires much faster when aiming at close-range enemies.
