Sujet : Do you Like Anime?

Membre supprimé

There has to be at least one thread like these in any forums. :p

But anywho, What do you guys think about Anime?

Are you obsessed by it?
Do you despise it?
What Anime series do you enjoy watching, seeing, reading (thinking Manga wise there)?
What do you like about it?
What do you hate about it?

Discuss anything that relates to this topic.

Here's my opinion about Anime:

At first, I was highly obsessed by Anime and I grew up with quite a lot of shows when I was young. Shows like Dragonball Z, Inuyasha and the most popular series Sailor Moon were some of the shows that made me love Anime. Then when it came around my college years, my love for Anime was going down…Waaayyyy Dooowwwwnnnn.

Somehow, I wasn't too obsessed by the genre like I used to be. The drawing style didn't appeal to me that much anymore, the acting and jokes in many shows felt stiff for me to watch (even though it's pretty difficult to voice act in a Japanese Animation show or movie) and the fan service in Anime can get way out of hand sometimes (Half of the fans would take things way to seriously if they think your opinion is not worth mentioning).

Although, I don't hate Anime 100%. There will be moments where I don't mind the genre. There are Anime movies and shows that are worth watching and some of the story, character and design concepts can be refreshing and new. I will not go crazy for it though these days, but there will be moments where I would not mind seeing some Anime stuff, depending on the content.

I will still have heart for Sailor Moon since it was the one show I grew up with (even if the English version was really bad and badly edited). Other Anime series that I've enjoyed watching are Fullmetal Alchemist, Chrono Crusade, FLCL and Fullmetal Panic.

Heh well, I was never really obsessed with it I suppose, but during my childhood I did watch some shows like Dragonball, Pokemon, etc. But never really did any art for it since I didn't really like drawing in that style.

But yeah once I became a teenager I sorta lost interest, but I watched a few like Wolf's Rain and such, and thought they were interesting. Did a little bit of fanart for that but then lost interest again.

But the main thing I dislike about anime is just the fandom(s), like you said… they ARE insane! But not all of course. And on almost every art site, anime is everywhere and overrated, while unique and better styles sometimes go unnoticed. But I still see quality out there, even some of my friends draw in an anime-type of style and I don't mind it.

But currently, I'm not really into any anime at all but I don't mind it.

So you're pretty much like me when it comes to Anime then.

I don't really see the appeal of the Anime style at all. It's flat, the human figures may not be in proper proportioned at times and it's just something that you cannot put in a portfolio for an art career. I remember I had to stop doing styles like these and had to branch out and improve on my drawing skills because for anyone who put any Anime work in a portfolio would get really harsh results at the end, unless if you can pull off the style really good and professionally done. One guy I knew was really good at drawing Anime and handed his work to the Animation Program, but he did not made it to the program because all his work was Anime and that's not what they asked for. Anyone who did Anime the amateur high school way would either get 0 on their results sheet or an application sheet to a fast food place if they submit their portfolios at a bachelor program like Animation.

I tell's ya, artists can be very critical. Some with good advising reason and some with very vague harsh reasons.

As for the fandom… yeah, that is one of the reasons why I stopped caring for Anime, especially the creepy, yaoi/yuri obsessed, demanding outrageous geeky jerk a** fans that would go "RAWR!" to your faces.

yeah that's actually quite true… though I'm not sure about over here in NZ. And well, I'm actually not trying to be 'professional' with my art anyways, I mainly do it for a hobby. Though I have been hired a few times to do artwork for businesses. But I can see why companies and businesses would avoid hiring someone who draws a very common style since it's so common and already used in many other places… and probably other reasons why too, which you mentioned. (even if it's 'perfectly' drawn)

But I am glad my style isn't anime or something else that's common emoji even when I was an anime fan, I never copied the style since it just didn't seem like it would be fun for me to draw. But I don't actually 'hate' it (I don't mind my friends drawing it, etc). And I also don't really like the way most male characters look in that style, they look so girly and… yeah, not very attractive xD (manly is better! heh)

though it is interesting how so many fangirls like the 'feminine males' and all the yaoi stuff o.O I just never understood the whole thing behind that… well, each to their own I guess! Well look at me, I like stuff/characters that not many people like XD

I can handle and respect other peoples opinions on stuff, if they dont bash me for having a different opinion XD

I'm a big Anime fan, but not sure if I would say I'm obsessed with it. I go to Cons, I do seak out more non mainstream shows (Sometimes you will fine something great), and I do have alot of Anime toys and pushies. I guess I love the stuff, but not sure to say obess.

I'm more of a Manga fan myself though, being I'm not a big TV watcher. However, if there is any thing i love about Anime, it's the themes, more so the shows aimmed at adults.

For those who want to know what my fav Anime/Manga are: Salior Moon (Japanese audio only), Code Geasus, FMA,Gurren Laguna, and tons of others I can't think on the top of my head XD

I used to go to Anime conventions back in high school and a bit of college, but something about going to these conventions doesn't make it that exciting to go to anymore, especially some of the events that happens in conventions. I usually go to cons for the shopping part on items that are difficult to find in regular stores. Unfortunately, I cannot afford to go to many cons since I am jobless at this point, but I will have a summer job pretty soon. So right now, I would go to one convention a year rather than 2 or more.

I couldn't really get into Manga's that easily compared to other people. Once I finish reading a manga, it's all done and I realize that I wasted 8 bucks on a manga volume book that I probably wouldn't read ever again (but then again, that's sort of the same thing with watching an Anime series). Most of my Anime friends are into Mangas, but I'm more of the opposite. Although, I do like the story plots and concepts that appears in manga's rather than in Anime series or even in Video Games such as Fullmetal Alchemist, Kingdom Hearts and the Legend of Zelda series.

I love anime! This drawing styl is one of the best in the universe!!
The actions, animations, the music… Everything is awesome!!!!!!!!!

I love watching anime when I was young. Some of the anime I watch were Yu-Gi-Oh! (The original series), Sailor Moon, Narato, Fullmetal Alchemist and Inuyasha.

I also enjoy watching Case Closed with my mom since we both like watching detective/case series like NCIS and Rizzoli & Isles (And the only case in which I can get my mom to watch something that’s not live action)

One the big fact I like about anime is the story and how the characters are portray in the show. If the story gets my interest, then I’ll watch it all the way to the end.

But as I got older, I began to lose interest in the show I use to watch. That mostly due to either the show is never on TV (Note this is before I discover Youtube), the story kinda went downhill to the point that it didn’t catch my interest or if the shows keep going on for almost 20 seasons to the point that I just want it to end.

When I discover the manga version of the anime, I decided to go buy them and I end up like them more than the show itself because the story was different and I like how they treat their characters. A good example would be the Yu-Gi-Oh series. I really like how it was treated in the manga compare to the anime.

So I still watch a bit of anime. As of now, the anime I’m currently watching/reading is Cardfight Vanguard!

But compare to my younger self, anime doesn't really interesting me that much anymore.
