Sujet : Other Insomniac games

We all know that the Ratchet and Clank series were wholely developed by Insomniac Games. But R&C aren't the only games they've made. Among their games are:
- Disruptor (PSOne, first-person shooter, the company's debute game)
- Spyro the Dragon series: Spyro the Dragon, Ripto's Rage/Gateway to Glimmer, Year of the Dragon (PSOne, adventure/platformer)
- Resistance series: two games made, the third one's in making (PS3, first-person shooter)

What I want to know is:
Have you ever played any of those games?
Did you like the experience?

Well, along with the whole R&C series released so far (which I have, except Quest for Booty and Going Mobile) I also once had the whole Spyro trilogy, I think I still have copies backed up somewhere. But yeah, I liked those games a lot as a kid about as much as I liked the Crash games back then.

Spyro 2 and 3 are instant classics, especially the 3rd one. So much fun and variety in it

Yeah! Spyro's classic! I really enjoyed the series as a kid (and I actually still have the games and I keep my old PSOne only to play them). When Spyro got sold to another company which didn't know what to do with it, I was kinda lost. I just lost my fave game series.

The funny thing is that I first got interested in what R&C was just because I wanted to see that it was bad and to think that Insomniac's guys were stupid enough to trade my fave Spyro for something hideous. And when I saw the gameplay, the designs, the story… I just realised what they ment, when they said: "We sold Spyro because we did everything we could with that dragon. A new game won't bring anything new to it. You can't actually put a gun into a dragon's paw." And they actually were right. They've made a platformer masterpiece. And now they're making an action/adventure masterpiece out of Ratchet an Clank.

I still have a dream that they'll make a remake of the Spyro series with better graphics for PS3 but that's not gonna happen X(

Heh really? Well yeah I enjoyed the Spyro series a lot but man, after it went onto new developers… it really did go downhill! I was quite put off after trying Heroes Tail… bad game O_o didn't even want to try Enter the Dragonfly. Already heard enough horror stories from that

And yeah, I tried R&C after hearing from some of my friends that it was a really good series and well.. after trying it, I admit that I like it a lot more than Spyro. But I still like Insomniac's Spyro games, they will always be classics better than any of the new ones after them.

That downfall… Does Insomniac have a supernatural connetion with Naughty Dog or something?

Nah… For me R&C games are still second to Spyro X) Probably, 'cause he's my childhood hero. Or maybe the game style's still better for me ^^*

Well both Crash and Spyro's series were owned by Universal (Now both owned by Activision) so yeah… :S
But it would be awesome if Insomniac ever got the chance to remake the original trilogy for PS3, that would be a dream come true

It's not even about the series owners… It just was like this:
1. Insomniac's Spyro awesome trilogy /// Naughty Dog's Crash awesome trilogy
2. A parody of the third game (Enter the Dragonfly) /// A parody of the third game (The Wrath of Cortex)
3. A non-level humour game (A Hero's Tail) /// A non-level humour game (Twinsanity)
4. A series to make Spyro look 'cool' (The Legend of Spyro) /// A series to make Crash look 'cool' (Titans)
Meanwhile…
5. Insomniac's successful series about a hero and a sidekick (Ratchet and Clank) /// Naughty Dog's successful series about a hero and a sidekick (Jak and Daxter)
6. A game about the sidekick (Secret Agent Clank) /// A game about the sidekick (Daxter)
7. Insomniac's serious series (Resistance) /// Naughty Dog's serious series (Uncharted)

Too many similarities o.0

And yeah, remaked Spyro would be just perfect 'cause the only thing the series lack as of for nowadays is graphics X)

Rofl, the only major difference is that Insomniac is still continuing with Ratchet & Clank (as well as Resistance) while Jak and Daxter seem to be forgotten at the moment… besides that High Impact Games title last year.

I can even argue that as the fourth game of the series is coming X)
So sometimes I think that Insomniac and Naughty Dog have a twin game fate o.0

My brother use to own the original Spyro series before we gave them up, I think we only have the first 2 games.

I often wish I still had them… they're such a rarity these days >.< but I could only play them on an emulator anyway… since I dont have a PSone memory card anymore to save the games, lol.

I have the games, the PSOne and two memory cards but playing Spyro 3 is a problem for me just 'cause I have a pirate copy of the game (it is easier to find illegal stuff in Russia, and I doubt the country even had a single legal copy), and Insomniac has a tricky anti-piracy thingie in the game X(((

Huh really? I've never seen pirated ones in NZ… but yeah, sometimes I see people selling their second hand copies, but at pretty high prices.

Well, Insomniac sure had a humourous idea for the anti-piracy thingie. They let the copied game be played but once you return to the first world, you meet a NPC that tells you you're playing an illegal copy of Spyro and from then on the stuff you've collected starts randomly disappearing X)
Fine system, I guess…

I've played three resistance games and they rocked!The weapons were epic,and the music was cool aswell.I've never played Spyro though and the only other insomniac games i've played are R&C
