I had this thought in my head for AGES and want to get the answer about this once and for all so I'm gonna ask you all this one important question.
If your current PS3 was broken in any way and could not be repaired and you have to buy a new one to play your games again will all the contacts and your trophies will still be there or do you have to get them all over again?
I know you can transfer your save files from your old PS3 to a new PS3 by useing a memory stick and I know that you have to but all of the DLCs from the PSN store all over again cause you can't transfer them like you can do with the save files but I have no idea about the contacts and trophies though =/

All of your PSN friends and contacts will remain if you use the same account. However, you will have to get all of you trophies again unfortunately.

sooooooo I'm guessing that both trophies and friends will stay on then? cause as you noticed I've been told the other way around so yeah I know that you know that I'm a bit confused as heck right now

my friend had the same problem once and he was able to keep all of his profile information, because he had it all written down. i think that it's just a user acount and if you know how to sign in, you're good. thats how my friend said it was. I was talkig to him as I typed this, but you dont know how much help a 12 year old can be.

you see, when you use you login to your PSN or a new user or PS3 and check your trophies they won't see them in your trophies collection, BUT when you are signed in to PSN and put a game that you had trophies for in, the trophies will come back to your PS3 for you to view them after the game has loaded.
hope that helps

also, if you lost all your PSN DLC, you can go to mange account, transactions and then to downloadlist, there you can re-download everything you had purchased
