Sujet : Let's Talk About Clank

Membre supprimé

This is the official thread to talk about the little robotic sidekick in Ratchet and Clank. I find Clank has been overshadowed by the heroic Lombax Ratchet in the R&C fan base. In my opinion, I don't see too many fans talk about him that much. Don't get me wrong, I think Ratchet is a charming character and he does make me crack some laughs, but I am more fond by Clank's sense of humour and cute charm, especially his robotic laugh.

Without Clank, I don't think Ratchet would become what he is today. emoji

So discuss anything that relates to the character Clank in this topic. What makes him a great character? Or not a great character? (if you have a reason why you're not a fan of him).

I am sure that I am not the only fan here that thinks Clank is an awesome character. emoji

you're right you're not the only one I love that robot his laugh is awesome, he knows kung-fu, understands animal language, very clever, has a good sence of humour

Clank is probably my favourite character, even above Ratchet! emoji But it is indeed sad that he is so under-rated, which is probably why Secret Agent Clank was so awesome, even if it was made by High Impact; it gives the little guy the chance to be properly awesome that he'd been owed for the entire series!

And then MediaMolecule put the R&C costumes into LBP2 which was also super! Unfortunately, the Clank costume did not have green eyes, but with the software update 1.01, that was fixed! emoji
Clank's laugh is indeed extremely adorable and David Kaye does a fantastic job as Voice-over. He can be quite witty, the only thing one can really complain about Clank is that his game-play segments can be tedious, except in SAC and ACiT in which the Clank gameplay was greatly improved; and it also looks as if he'll be much more bearable to play in Heroes on the Move; or if you must "Playstation Move Heroes" and in All4One!

Speaking of David Kaye… I never told anyone this, but I've spotted the actor at a Q&A with two other Canadian voice actors in an Anime convention back in 2004. I didn't get a chance to speak to him or get his autograph since the line-ups were hectic, especially a lot of Inuyasha fans who wanted to meet the English voice cast from the show.

Unfortunately, I didn't knew Kaye was the one who voiced Clank all this time since I wasn't a R&C fan at that time. That's until in 2008, I found out he was the voice behind Clank when I watched the behind the scenes video when I played Going Commando.

Clank is so adorable, I have to say XD and yeah, it is a shame that he doesn't get as much attention as Ratchet and the Lombaxes in the fandom; especially in fanart emoji

He is just as interesting as Ratchet to me, with a big backstory and… well, yeah! Gotta love his laugh too, my boyfriend finds it hysterical XD especially this quote "One Hypersonic Brainwave Scrabbler, Scrambled. He he he he he!" (As well as Klunks "One disposible Popstar; Disposed! he he he he he!"emoji emoji

I wouldn't think Clank had an interesting backstory to begin with until A Crack in Time came out. How he was originally created just reached to a whole new level once his story about being made in a robotic factory wasn't the only thing that created this charming little bot. emoji

And I would say that Clank's origin and past is far more interesting than Ratchet's.

I know some people are more fond by the Lombaxes origin and knowing a bit more of what happened with Kaden, Alister and Ratchet's past. Heck, even I thought some moments were quite interesting to begin with. Although, some of the events in what happened from the Great War with Tachyon's invasion and all felt quite familiar. Especially with…

Kaden sending infant Ratchet to the Solana Galaxy before he gets terminated by Tachyon.

Clank's backstory wasn't explained too much however, but finding out that he was created by

A Zoni

quite surprised me for the first time.

Yeah, i wonder what realy happend in those events before clank came out of that machine…

Maybe this happened…

Clank was once a incomplete Zoni that turned completely wrong in the process, but Orvus still wanted to keep him as if it was his only son. So Sigmund decided to built a body for XJ0461.

Once XJ0461's robotic body was completed, Orvus placed the Zoni soul and decided to take XJ0461 outside the Great Clock, sending him to a robotic factory where he would start his destiny.

I was hoping to see at least some flashbacks with Clank's past in A Crack in Time, but never got anything like that once the game was completed. Oh well. emoji

I really like Clank. Why shouldn't I like him?
Because he's too cute, smart, cool and funy by me! Without Clank's help, Ratchet wouldn't save the universe by himself, would he?
