Sujet : Original or Remake?

Ooh, I have a good one, how about…

Spyro the Dragon series versus The Legend of Spyro series.

I like the former a lot better personally. I felt the reboot was ridiculous in the first place.

i don't think the reboot series was that bad compaired too the new crash bandicoot games.

though how about this (i'm still working on him but) how about the original scaler or my scaler aegis (just asking oppinons about him)

If you showed two pictures of your character Scaler, I'm sure this would be easy for us to compare which one is better since half of us will not know who Scaler is, especially to newcomers of this forum.

I got one for you guys…

Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64) and Super Mario 64 DS (Nintendo DS)

They're pretty much the same game, except the DS version has more levels, challenges and different characters to play as other than just Mario.

But personally, I like the original N64 version better just because tasks are simple and playing through the game is pretty straight forward. The additions in the DS version makes the game experience longer, but the use of more unlockable characters feels a bit unnecessary. If it was just Mario and Luigi and had less new objectives in the DS version, I would have liked it a bit more. I don't see what purpose Wario or Yoshi would have to save the Princess in the game.

Here are a couple original and remake song comparisons I've looked at recently.

1.Relax (Don't Do It) by Frankie Goes to Hollywood.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyl5DlrsU90

I don't know how these lyrics got away to get aired on TV and radio stations back in the 80's, but man… That is one catchy one hit wonder tune! emoji

Relax (Don't Do It) by Powerman 5000

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gt7-UFcdhSw

I actually think Powerman 5000 can make a couple of bad ass tunes, but their take to remake this song feels so unclean and horrible, especially when they added a rap verse in this version of Relax.

Results - Frankie Goes to Hollywood > Powerman 5000

2. Mr.Blue Sky - Electric Lightning Orchestra

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjPqsDU0j2I

This song is very captivating to listen to. It's catchy throughout and it ends with an epic bang with a uprising rockin' choir, a quick piano solo and a echo-like vibe. It definitely a song that will bring a smile on your face.

Mr. Blue Sky - Lily Allen

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bHD5Ho14xjM

It isn't too bad for a remake of Mr.Blue Sky, but I prefer ELO's version way more because it's longer and sounds extremely epic than Allen's version.

A remake that i personally find to be great are the remakes of Monkey Island 1 & 2, they took the original games, updated the graphics, added voice acting but the best of all is that you can switch from the new version to the old one any time you like, pretty neat huh?

For those who like Tim Schafers sense of humor should definitely check these two games out since they were one of the very first he made, you can download them from Steam, XBL and PSN.

I haven't played neither versions of Monkey Island 1 and 2,so I wouldn't know about it.

Anyway, many people have seen the classic horror movies, and people keep remaking them.So I have one:

A Nightmare on Elm Street(1984) vs. A Nightmare on Elm Street(2010)

I've seen the remake a few weeks ago and I have to say it wasn't bad,I just think it wasn't necessary to remake a popular horror movie.

I know many don't like horror movies.

Do you know what's a pretty bad remake? When a pop artist sensation who starred a sitcom on the Disney Channel sings a cover to Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana.

Here's the original by Nirvana: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTWKbfoikeg

Not a huge fan of the band, but this song is still a great tune from the 90's.

Here's Weird Al's parody of the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FklUAoZ6KxY

Apparently, Kurt Cobain laughed at this parody when he was alive. No joke.

And now, here's Miley Cyrus' version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDmkuBlEnUE

Why does she sound like the drunken Lindsay Lohan from Robot Chicken?

The PS1 game MediEvil had a remake on the PSP called MediEvil Resurrection.

Here's the graveyard level from both games:

MediEvil (original):

MediEvil Resurrection:

Both of them have this Tim Burton feel to it, but there's no doubt that i would pick the original, nostalgic one.

I haven't played the original Medievil so i spose i can't really talk? But i have played and own and got 100% (with the exeption of the minigames) and found all the cheats afterwards and really liked it! Then found out it was a remake off an old PS1 game so saw some videos and came to the conclusion that i liked Ressurection better. Many would disagree, but i suppose it depends on what one you start with?
