Totally agree with lombaxdude42 - Insomniac should still improve original Ratchet & Clank formula. In fact, the best improvements in the series were mostly a new gadgets (new wrench, time pads, hoover boots), while the worst ones, were new ideas of what Ratchet & Clank could be (LEGO-style co-op game, tower defense game). Look at Sly 2 - Sucker Punch kept a lot of his moves and abilities, but added pickpoceting, open worlds, new playable characters… it was a kind of a revolution, but it stayed true to what Sly was originally supposed to be - a stealth platformer. Last R&C games didn't stay true to the original idea. In terms of controls, A4O have changed much from previous games, but still had a lot of original moves. It's shooting element was really poor in my opinion, althrough (not that bad) platforming and gadget (reflector) elements were still there. It's completly different story with FFA. It go "back to the roots" (in controls), so shooting is again how it was supposed to be (except of ruining Sonic Eruptor
), but in terms of platforming and gadgets… there's no platforming at all (those moving platforms on Markazia were just pathetic to me), and hoover boots is the only device that's not a weapon. Ratchet is supposed to be a platformer with a strong addition of weapons and gadgets - not a shooter, but not just typical platformer. If Insomniac will get back to the real roots of a series (original idea), even changing some steering or exploration elements, we'll get a great Ratchet again.
PS. They should also make Qwark non-playable character again. The ability to play as him ruined A4O and FFA's story - there was too many of him! In FFA he had more to say than Ratchet & Clank themsels (in cutscenes my favourite robot had 4 SENTENCES - I wonder why he's still in the title
). Qwark's good, but just as a supporting character.
