Sujet : Expectations for the next Ratchet and Clank

Membre supprimé

So, the last two R&C games have been, "interesting" twists on the series. In my opinion ACiT is one of the best examples of a sequel done right, it had everything, atmosphere, weapons, cool art-style, etc… But those things are absent in A4O and FFA (for the most part).
But, for old times sake, I created this thread for those like me who like to speculate about video-games.

I'd like for the next game to make the PS3's clock present in some way or another, like when it's night time it's night time in the game. Another example is that "My blaster runs hot" movie that was supposed to come out on Friday, it would be cool if there was an actual cinema where you could watch the movie after it's release.

A lock-on feature would come SO much in handy, while I get a kick out of the strafing, a lock-on feature would be nice, even if I couldn't move while locked onto an enemy.

Make the worlds gigantic, with different landing spots, it could make the planet feel more realistic, and it would add more possibilities of playing the game, making all the sections where you can land connected would also be nice.

Instead of buying armors, finding parts of armors would be cool, and by combining different armors parts, Ratchet'd have different abilities (e.g. A boots parts that'd let me hover and an helmet that'd reduce damage would create a quake attack that could destroy certain walls).

I think thats a really good idea!
Its awesome.
It has been stuck in my head for a while to make R&C a bit more realistic. As what you said.
For me the planets/moons etc. are the most important things to me. If they would make it huge and make also a little free roaming: Voila, and excellent R&C game.
But hey i still love what they did with A Crack In Time. If they do the same thing as they did in A Crack In Time, im absolutely fine with it.
Youre opinion?

ps im dutch so my english might not be the best, but hey i tried right ;P

Well, if they'd go with the same structure they did in ACiT, I hope for something entertaining to watch while each planet is loading. My PS3 is old, over 5 years old actually, and the load times are not the fastest.
Other than that, another ACiT type of game would be cool, maybe the addition of traveling back in time at will in any planet, just for a little twist.

Ah too bad for your ps3 emoji But yeah thats a great idea. Maybe a few ''Did you know?' about the planet, but then with a little movie or something.

Traveling back in time would be great, but if they just returned to veldin or the other solana planets would be great too. The visuals of Veldin would probably look awesome!

I'd like for the next game to make the PS3's clock present in some way or another, like when it's night time it's night time in the game.

I don't think that's a great idea. Having the time of day change isn't such a bad idea, but having it linked to the PS3 (or more likely PS4) internal clock is a bad idea, I think. That works for games like Pokemon. Not Ratchet & Clank.

Another example is that "My blaster runs hot" movie that was supposed to come out on Friday.

What exactly are you talking about here..? Clearly I'm missing something.

A lock-on feature would come SO much in handy, while I get a kick out of the strafing, a lock-on feature would be nice, even if I couldn't move while locked onto an enemy.

They did that in GC, UYA, SM, and SAC. I wouldn't mind it coming back, but only if the game was more difficult in response.

Make the worlds gigantic, with different landing spots, it could make the planet feel more realistic, and it would add more possibilities of playing the game, making all the sections where you can land connected would also be nice.

Ratchet & Clank isn't a sandbox or open-world game and I'd hate to see it become one. The sectors in ACiT is about as open world as I ever want R&C to be.

Instead of buying armors, finding parts of armors would be cool, and by combining different armors parts, Ratchet'd have different abilities (e.g. A boots parts that'd let me hover and an helmet that'd reduce damage would create a quake attack that could destroy certain walls).

They did an armor piece system in SM and that was pretty neat. I would just hope that they would make some of the armors actually…hidden. There was only one armor piece (the Sludge Mk. 9 boots, if I remember correctly) that was actually hidden. Every other armor piece is just laying around or is a reward for minigames and I didn't like that very much.

I hope it'll kick off a trilogy im in the mood for playing more R&C

The next Ratchet and Clank game should be based around Kaden because in ACiT you hear General Alister Azimuth explaining to Ratchet about how the General was responsible for Kaden's death, i believe that the next game should be based around him and have various endings depending on how many Lombaxes leave Polaris. with the number of Lombaxes rounded up to 40 per ending.

Thanks

I don't mind the idea of the open world game, I think it could work. I would also like to see some sort of leveling or rpg mechanic. They did have something like that in All for one, and I think that would be fun to play.

Wasn't that a stable in the R&C games until A4O? If you're talking about leveling up a character, I don't see the needs, leveling up weapons and vitality is enough. And A4O's level just determined how much your character had in his arsenal.

Upgrading Nanotech and weapons is enough for me. When there is so much to choose from its far too confusing for a game like R&C.

I really want that option on the main menu back, you know, the one that said 'New Game' emoji

Good one. I'd like that back very much too ^^

I agree. That wasn't necessary for A4O but rather for FFA. emoji I wanna be welcomed by Mr.Trololol when I come back to the Phenix again ! D8 It's sad to can not watch some cutscenes anymore too. It would great and simple (well, I'm not a video game develloper so I can't say it is °_°) if Insomniac inserted an option to watch them when you are on the planet where they happen, like in the first game. x(
I agree to say upgradable health and weapons are enoughs too. R&C stays a simple game for all the ages.

I don't wan't a R&C really different as the others. But I would be glad with open maps like Sargasso or Stratus City, a co-op with Ratchet and Talwyn (I support this couple), why not a multiplayer mode, a most original arsenal, some cool skins (not like the ToD's ones emoji ) the possibility to change armor but to keep the resistance of the last one boughted, and so the Robo-Wings' and vehicles' come back. °-°

PS : Tell me if I made mistakes. I love english but the mine is not perfect yet. emoji

I agree, most of FFA's arsenal was a rehash of old weapons, and yes, vehicles would be awesome, kinda sad they didn't bring them into FFA, would've been a perfect game to bring the vehicles back, since it was so non-linear.
And don't worry, although you made mistakes, your message was still understandable.

The Ratchet and Clank games were always about Insomniac Games trying new things and ideas for gameplay. From R&C1 to ACiT, they kept building on the original structure, improving it etc. And having realised this, I think I finally understand why people didn't like A4O or FFA. Although IG were trying new things for the franchise, they weren't making further improvements on what they already had, they were making an entirely different game, which may as well have been a totally new franchise. So, for the sake of the franchise continuing to succeed at the hands of picky fans, I hope to see gameplay that runs in the same metaphorical veins as the original 7 games, with added improvements. What Insomniac add is up to them frankly; I don't want to have specific expectations, I like to see how they surprise us with their new and innovative ideas, however, one good idea would be to take the idea of Co-Op from A4O and FFA and add it into the original gameplay style. Before it was released, I always expected Ratchet Deadlocked to be more like it's predecessors, and use the multiplayer engine that had premiered in R&C3 for the use of co-op that would allow people to play as both Ratchet and Angela Cross simletaneously (or have each level alternate between the two for the singleplayer mode), which, sadly, never happened. However, since recently in the franchise's canon, there has been a lot of mention of the Lombaxes, including a reference to Angela in ACiT, I suppose it is possible that IG could still incorporate this idea into the next game…
