Sigh… I can't understand the phenomenon of Frozen really. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad movie, but it's not groundbreaking either. Yet it suddenly became a masterpiece and a Disney classic… That, and I still don't get how did a movie (let's face it) aimed mostly at girls rather than everyone become such a huge seller. What's so amazing about it? Personally, I'd put both Wreck-It-Ralph and Big Hero 6 above it.

The same thing that was amazing about The Lion King 20 years earlier.

So I'm not the only one who didn't fall in love with The Lion King? *looks out if anyone is throwing potatos* The Lion King had an amazing animation (as Nostalgia Critic said, this movie is HUGE) though, in that case it indeed was a masterpiece. Frozen was animated really nicely, but it's no better than what Dreamworks, Pixar and even Blue Sky can do. It certainly isn't "The Lion King of CG animation".

It is though.
Simba is part of a royal family and he's going to be king, when his father dies he runs away out of fear after being convinced by Scar that Simba killed him.
He meets two new friends, Timon and Pumba, who are the comedy relief of the movie, and a possible love interest. Then Simba proceeds to sing a song about not caring about anything that's happened in the past and being relieved he's finally free from his responsibilities.
After Scar reveals he wanted both Simba and Mufasa dead so he could finally rule as the king, he's defeated by falling off a cliff.
Elsa is part of a royal family and she's going to be queen, when her parents die she runs away out of fear.
Then Elsa proceeds to sing a song about not caring about anything that's happened in the past and being relieved she's finally free from her responsibilities.
Anna, her sister, meets two new friends, Olaf and Sven, who are the comedy relief of the movie, and a possible love interest.
After Hans reveals he wanted both Anna and Elsa dead so he could finally rule as the king, Elsa is convinced by him that she killed Anna.
Hans is then defeated by falling off a boat.
Long live the King is still better than Uh Oh big wave though.

You did not get my point. I meant the animation, not the story.
I wonder when Heather's gonna show up…
I did get your point.
I was just saying that people loved Frozen becaused it was just like Lion King.
The only difference being that this time it was with princesses in a time where princesses are the s***, not with lions, an animal that was never that popular.

Oh, you meant that… But yeah, that's pretty true.

Yeah, saw it… I dunno, the special effects didn't really impress me and I really hope that the music we hear in this (the first track, not the piano version of the old theme) is just for the trailer (Michael Giacchiano, please tell me you didn't compose it!).
So…it appears that Insomniac WONT show stuff at PS Expirence. But they WILL(or may)show off some stuff at a Christmas party!

Sorry, I was busy playing the new Lara Croft game (…on PS4 where it belongs!).
So, Frozen SingStar? Let's have it! But I guess it won't be much better than the OST I have in my car or the Singalong version on DVD/BluRay.
I also see your Frozen hate here, which disappoints me. I'm just gonna share my little story about why I like it so much. Cause when I saw it the first time I didn't love it as much as I do now. I'm not the.. wasn't the most secure person in the entire universe. As I kid I was different from the other girls. I loved Nintendo and Mario. I drew the characters, took my GameBoy to school, talked about them etc. Which to them was weird. I ended up sitting alone and playing alone during recess. Trying to dodge this ‘Alissa’ bully and her witch friends. This carried all the way to high school were I continued to be the lone person. Teachers loved me for it and gave continued support, but let me tell you… it’s not funny to be dragged into awkward situations all the time so they can have a laugh at you.
At this point I also preferred to be alone. I rejected ‘playdates’, sat at the front desk etc. It wasn’t until 2012 that I could give them the finger and walk away from them forever. New school, new city and a new objective. Some of you may or may not know I study Game Design, with a focus on 3D modeling. It’s very visible work. And by that I mean: people can walk up behind you and see your work. I never felt comfortable with that so I always had a tap ready to switch to another screen. In 2013 I started feeling like I was falling behind (while in fact I wasn’t. May have even been ahead of the rest). I thought about quitting, thinking I should become a writer…English teacher, whatever.
In 2014 came the thing I feared the most. I had to look for an internship in a real company. Aka showing your work to the world. I was afraid my portfolio wasn’t good enough and was afraid of sending it to Vanguard, Guerilla, Grendel and all the big names. It was also this time I saw Frozen for the first time. I plainly watched it with a friend, thought it was okay. Could have had less singing sequences (Ha!). But I was listening to ‘Let it Go’ one time and saw it all flash before me. Like Elsa I hid everything I did because I was afraid. Not because I might hurt someone with it, but because people would laugh at my work. I was the queen of my own little isolated kingdom and it was time to let go of that. I started building up my portfolio, sent it to anyone and everyone. Had teachers and classmates look at it for me. Got feedback, applied feedback. Got rejected here and there. At one point I was fairly close into getting into Grendel Games. I was walking to their building and was reciting. ‘I don’t care what they’re going to say, let the storm rage on. The cold never bothered me anyway’. I did get rejected and I didn’t care. The hunt was still on. It was only my 3rd year into game design. Maybe I should look for one level lower.
Which I did. I got an internship with Engamesment here and Amsterdam and yada yada. My point is; sometimes it takes a song to make you rethink some of the things you do and did. I owe Frozen my internship and I owe it being more comfortable in my own skin. There’s a bigger meaning behind the movie. I mean, if an animated film can get a girl more secure in her shoes you got yourself some magic. Lion King doesn’t do that, Big Hero 6 doesn’t do that. Frozen did that… at least for me.
I was able to identify with it and see past the big lines. Frozen is a really deep movie that can speak to everyone. All you have to do is listen.
Wow, you really had a story there, I'd even say I can relate with Elsa as well… I didn't really think about this that way. But as you said, Frozen did it for you and I'm pretty sure The Lion King and Big Hero 6 (which is deeper than you might think) are capable of doing the same to other people. These are all the stories with characters people can relate to, perhaps even sometimes change their lifes, show a solution. And if Frozen did that to you, that's great, I totally understand you, it just didn't leave such a big impact on me. Also, I want to clarify there was no "Frozen hate" here, I just said I don't understand how did this become such a big thing (well, okay, it did look like a hate, I still can't get over the fact it's in the top 5 best selling movies of all time), but I never said Frozen is a bad movie (I actually said it was good).

Perhaps Big Hero 6 will do the same for someone else, but I think it can't be as strong as what Frozen means to a (young) girl. What Frozen teaches:
- The love from sister to sister can be just as strong as with your lover.
- A girl doesn't always need man to protect her.
- Someone can be neither hero nor villian.
- Bark up is dryer.
And most importantly:
- Trust yourself. Skill comes one step at a time.
Heather, you don't need to keep pointing out the values of Frozen, I know they are there and I appreciate them It didn't get into my heart (probably because, as you pointed out, I'm not a girl), but that doesn't mean I don't like it. Though still, $1,275,011,053?
