Sujet : Really Random thread

I had no idea the spine of the American version looked like that. It's very rare for a PAL game to have a different font for the spine.

I couldn't see myself ever buying another version of Tools of Destruction for PS3 though. Even if I was desperate to see the word 'future' in the title, it wouldn't show on my PS3 because that's the way PS3s seem to work.

Yeah, I read that too. Haven't testen it for myself yet, but I think it will use the saves that are already on my PS3 and indeed show no Future in the logo. Its still cool to have though, €10 well spend ^^

The manuel is in color too. And there's more than 3 pages. Also the back has actual explanation of the story. NTSC games are so much nicer…

Have you got the infamous Czech manual? I mean - translating 'bolts' as lightning bolts… emoji

When the NTSC version of QfB is played on a+ PAL PS3, Future does indeed appear. And "crap" is uncensored.
The only unusual stuff I ran into were French subtitles during the transition to Hoolefar and the "crap" subtitle was censored.

Not sure. I now have an English and multi language version. (Which has 3 pages per language, wow). I'll check it out when I get home.

Then your PAL games suck.

Pretty much every game I have (until Fuse) has a full-on manual. (Only the Metal Gears seem to have colour, but there may be a few more I have forgotten about)

As far as I can remember all of my PS3 manuals have only a few pages per language and are grey. Which languages are in the PAL NZ versions then? Here's English, Dutch, Italian, German, French, etc. I assume NZ doesn't need all that?

We have English. That is all.

The thing is that New Zealand and Australia together are a pretty big deal, so we (probably) get our own PAL stuff. It's safe to say almost 90% of the New Zealand and Australian people (collectively) speak English, so keeping this and the collective size of us in mind, it may be a better idea for them to just throw some NTSC-type stuff in the mix.

Hence why Ratchet & Clank 3 is called 'Ratchet & Clank 3: Up Your Arsenal' for us EXCLUSIVELY. We get the number and subtitle emoji

I'm pretty sure that the games we have on PS2 onwards have a colourful mixture of languages available to us as well, but our manuals don't.

(By the way, New Zealand and Australlian rating systems remain similar but still very different. I mean they are virtually the same, but our stuff isn't censored and filtered much at all, while they are absolutely horrible at this)

EDIT: On the subject of random stuff: Last night I had a dream. An amazing dream. Filled with horror and FEAR! The problem was, it was one of those dreams that felt so real, it made me horribly paranoid. It was a The Last of Us Dream. I don't know the details, but one thing that really stood out was the name of the fungus: Cordyceps. Now I must have heard it before, and remembered it subconsciously, because if you'd quizzed me on it there would be no way I could remember the name! But it popped up in the dream as 'new information' how does one learn in a dream? Well they don't. So it had to be real, I was going to die… of course, as I said before, It must have just come to me with really bad timing.

Name ánd number, very nice.

Ratings in Holland are really weird. There's no 18+ here, only in rare cases. On the box it says 18+ because we share with France, but the Dutch just says either 15+ or 16+.

As far as you dream goes Codyceps, apperently… is this:

Yea. The parasite fungus featured in The Last of Us is a real fungus. But the one we have only effects insects, in The Last of Us it effects people.

However this video could be a worry: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baOlT-1yY4A Wouldn't that be cool? Everyone dying?

EDIT: The rating system we have (OFLC) goes something like this:

G (General - as in everyone can watch/play) <- Rayman/LBP
PG (Parental Guidance - good for almost everyone) <- Ratchet & Clank/Portal
M (Mature - should be all-good for peeps that are mature) <- inFamous
R13 (Restricted to peeps 13 and up. This one's a rarity) <- Resistance: Retribution
R16 (Restricted to poles 16 and up) <- Killzone/Resistance
R18 (Resitrcted to protons 18 and up) <-GTA

I've always been curious as to how they compare to the American rating system. To see who is stricter (Using the parental control levels displayed in the manuals of PS Vita games).

ToD is E for Everyone. Aka 3 and up. While in The Netherlands its age 7+.
It goes from 3+ - 7+ - 16+ - 18+, nothing in between.

Is your system PEGI?

EDIT: Becaues, if it is, then that means…

If I put the parental control level on a scale of 1 to 9 (following my Vita's info) and map out the OFLC and PEGI systems, I notice something…

1. G
2. 3+
3. 7+/PG
4.
5. 12+
6.
7. 16+/M/R13
8. R15
9. 18+/R16/R18

Looking at number 7. we start to see an interesting trend. To play those level 7. games like inFamous or Resistance: Retribution, PEGI people need to be 16 or older, whereas we don't have to provide any evidence (for M) or need to look like a teenage (for R13). Also note how it gets so condensed that the OFLC system could be going off the charts. In other words, R18 games are likely to be quite rare (which they are).

D'yeah, we got PEGI alright…

Didn't know there were countries that won't sell most of the 18 games. Games seem to take the blame for murderers actions more and more often. Guess its some kind of precaution they're taking.

I'll check one of my 16+ games when I get home. See if Holland has a different restriction on the disc.

Well as much as this might sound like it contradicts what I was trying to prove, Australia is easily the worst country for censorship and banning. Hear me out though!

You see, Australia's my be quite similar to New Zealand's in that they have G, PG and M that are equal. But no R13. They cut to MA 15+ (R15) which is at level 9. with your 18+ and our R16/R18

Australia do have R18 and X18. R18 for the really bad stuff, and X18 for the REALLY bad stuff. But as far as games are concerned, anything at these levels can be flat-out banned or censored to death.

South Park and Grand Theft Auto are games that need to be in Australia or gamers would burn everything down, so they cut out all the bad parts and let 'em have it. But then we have the Saints Row game that just came out… well good luck getting that in Australia, it's banned. There are probably many other games like this that have been banned there, but okayed everywhere else as well.

So while it would appear NZ has all the ratings really laid back, the guys next door are quite the opposite.

Wow, okay. A whole game banned even. Are your 'neighbours' able to order import Saint Row from NZ?
