You were wroking on it in LBP1 or 2?

Since I think water became a default tool in LBP2, don't quote me on that though.

And I keep hearing about people's consoles and games being robbed and I just can't help but feel guilty about a day where I stole a GBA and a copy of the first Jak and Daxter game from a… "friend" of mine.

I brought LBP1 because I thought someone might have made some Ratchet & Clank stuff. I was partially let down, because I got the strong feeling that the existing R&C1 remake (by Pacfan I think it was) could have been done better. So I decided to start making some levels. But I only got Veldin and Novalis done before my PS3 was stolen and my chances at the project were ripped away. Eventually LBP2 was announced and I revived the idea of remaking R&C1 on LBP again. I got a PS3 and LBP2 on my birthday which was very soon after the game came out.

My entire LBP experience has revolved around Ratchet & Clank… well until I determined I was wasting my time creating Novalis on LBP2.

My PS3 was actually taken by a bunch of criminals that actually broke into our house with the intention of taking lots of expensive things. And it was the result of a party involving lots of 'friends of friends'

EDIT: And water is a default tool of LBP2. So there is another downside of PotC… but on the other hand LBP2 also did a good job at making some of the MGS stuff redundant.

I've played that remake, thought it was pretty good actually (well, pretty good by LBP1 standards).
And that's actually pretty funny, because every time me and my friends were talking about LBP2 before it was released, I was always talking about how I'd remake ToD as soon as I was done with the story mode, but my laziness got the better of me.

And I'm glad I never actually experienced having something expensive stolen.
The most that's ever been taken from me was a weird Arthur and the Minimoys game for the PS2. I guess there are advantages in living isolted from big places.

I had a real blast with those levels. But they could have definitely been better even on LBP1. I am so pissed I never published my first Veldin level. It was virtually identical to the one I made in LBP2, with a few less decorations, accurate materials, and no Sackbot. But Novalis was the really incredible level. Even though it wasn't done, I managed to make the first 2 paths loop around quite nicely, and even captured the proper feels of the different areas of the levels… I really did push the layer glitch to it's limits too.

After living away from the city our whole life I'd always wondered what it would be like living in the city. A couple of years there tells me that unless you have alarms everywhere your house will get robbed, and overall living conditions suck.

I'm glad I don't have to put up with that anymore.

You reminded me of one thing:
Layer glitch: yes or no?
Personally, I'd say no. It makes it feel a bit natural and we don't need such glitches to make the levels.
(Oh, I forgot you are perfectionists)

I doubt we can avoid it. Some levels like Veldin will be extremely easy to do it in. But levels like the Moon base are going to be hard to make without the glitch.

NOnonononoo! The layer glitch must be in it! Everything just looks more awesome with it.
There are many open landscapes in Ratchet and Clank, just imagine how that would look like in 3d! emoji

I suppose I lost.
Well, I design the gameplay, not the looks.
But… the moon base? What with it?

I think something looks more impressive in 3D if limitted by the 3 layers, but maybe that's just me.
When are we going to start working on this?

We already (kinda) have! Although I think me and Filip are having connection issues, we can probably figure it out.

Me and Filipuntik briefly talked about the extra layers in LBP and I spent most of the time thinking "Aster will freak if we do this in 2D…"

And the moonbase is the "demoonitiser" that hovers over Drek's moon. I think it would be cool to set it up to look like the Gemlick Moon base, because it's both my favorite level in that game, and allows for us to be a little more creative with using ideas from R&C1 and redoing them for LBP.

Of course if you remember much about that moon base, you'll know this thing will be a bigger monster than Metropolis.

Why was it called the Gemlick Moon Base anyway? Was it originally built on a moon, or designed to orbit a moon that orbits the planet?

Because it functions as a moon to Oltanis?
Either that or the countless ammount of moons orbiting it.

I don't think they could be considered moons. I mean they're just a bunch of little rocks.

And it is a space station, so it can't be a moon. A moon needs to be a natural satellite. My best guess is that it is a space station Drek had built as a MoonBase on a moon… perhaps one of the moons orbiting Orxon. And when he was ready to carry out his plan he had it removed from the moon and placed in Oltanis' orbit

What even was it's purpose?

It was extremely heavily armed, and used as a means of completely obliterating Planet ground forces and cities so the Blarg could prepare for ground assaults to take whatever things they needed for their new planet.

We come to the base soon after they finished attacking Gorda City to steal it's electrical generators. The reason they left it in the planet's orbit was likely so that Ratchet & Clank would find it and be ambushed by Qwark there… too bad they also gave Ratchet a powerful fighter ship to combat Qwark with, but I guess they were betting on Qwark living up to his legends he's spun of himself to defeat Ratchet. So that's 2 crucial mistakes they made there.

Oh… so "moonbase" is just to sound cool. Much like beta and prototype.
