Sujet : Really Random thread

maybe it is… but I don't think you could compare it to the use of the terms beta and prototype

I don't know, it wouldn't really be that much different from Gemlik Space Station, but moonbase just sounds cooler. Same thing with video game robots/aliens and just having beta or prototype in their names…

Nefarious moonbase? Nah, it doesn't work there.

Oh now I get what you mean.

I'm pretty sure there is some logic to the use of the terms beta and prototype for robots (not aliens though, that is out of place). Because robots in games are usually very advanced it's safe to say there is some sort of creation process behind it all. Prototype models are usually more inferior, experimental or a first edition of the machine. The best one being if it is a first edition, because then you can call machines like Blade Wolf an interface prototype despite being extremely advanced.

The use of words like beta are probably more relevant when trying to divide stuff up without using numbers and without giving them a unique identity (Ratchet & Clank pulls it off well for names of Wind turbines and teleporter cannons) but unlike the word prototype can be harder to justify a reason for their naming. For example; I can't think or any examples.

I'm looking into this too deeply. But yea, while it appears I'm trying to contradict you I do kinda agree. It sounds better to call it a MoonBase so be it.

EDIT: Here is something random but still totally awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hpkGShO-Ko Its a pretty funny parody of Modern Warfare 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4. So of course you will need at least a basic general understanding of both games to get most of the humor. This s my favorite fan-made film I've ever seen!

Sometimes the 3D effect ruins the gameplay a bit imo (you try to move out and you can't. Altho yes, I'd agree if ithad some nice decorating effects.
We get a prison, a farm ship and a factory done in 2D though.

If it's done right it can be pretty good. But I've never really played a level and got much annoyed by trying to move into a layer that doesn't exist.

When you think about it those 3 things are all very easily possible in 2D. I've actually made a prison and a few factories in 2D before. But for us to truly capture the life of these R&C levels, it might be worthwhile to have people like Aster hovering around the back and foreground layers to spruce things up a bit.

I generally mix both ways of creating, with some big gameplay parts in 2D and some scenery parts in 3D. If there's alot of gameplay, nobody will really take his time and look at the background that much.

Also, we need to make sure we don't boost up the thermometer too much because of the background. If Ratchet gets into a building (Which he does alot.. ever wondered if that counts as a crime?) i think we should just stick with the basic 3 layers.

Now that's what I wanted to hear.
We just don't need to go overboard.

I was imagining the beginning. Ratchet has a checkpoint on the wall of his garage as a decoration, but when he fails something while working on his ship, a piece of fire flies out, knocks te checkpoint down and Sackboy comes out.

Nobody notices post edits…

Anyway, which DLC is the best for this project? Maybe some costumes? (Exclude te obvious)

(I hate tripleposts).

This place is starving though.
Kubak, how did you say that? BING? TING? BASH? PING?

OH GAWD! GUYS!? REMEMBER THE QUOTE GAME!?

Good old times… A little suggestion - make an "LBP Ratchet project" separate thread. It's not really that random anymore…
