GC was kinda in it's own arc; it's own galaxy. Aside from characters returning in the spinoffs, there isn't much continuity to it.
When you look at all the Star Wars parodies, you see they can easily fit 3 movies in one.
Yes, but Star Wars movies tend to be rather slow and boring. Not much really happens in the movies, and a lot could be reworked to fit in one movie.
Ratchet & Clank games on the other hand have plenty of important events, and the whole feel the games put out can be hardly captured in the form of a movie if all of these events are to be reenacted in a 3 or less hour period. Therefore they are going to have to re-write everything and adjust it to fit a movie. This means cutting a lot of things, and adding a few new things.
They could make true movies of each of the games from the original trilogy, but they won't because the games' plots aren't "Hollywood" enough. So rewriting everything and (probably) keeping the same basic premise of Drek's plot is the only real course of action to take. The same can be said for a lot of games I think… this is why I am opposed to the idea of a Metal Gear film. Ratchet & Clank could work as a movie, yea. But Metal Gear… nah.
Every time I talk about game movies I remind myself of Metal Gear… on the other hand though an inFamous game would be very fitting

Yeah, but Star Wars is one story spread out across 3 movies, while the Ratchet & Clank games (aside from the Future trilogy) are not.
Remember the all the movies of the original trilogy had the same main threat - the Empire. Sure, some secondary villains appeared, like Jabba or Boba Fett, but the main goal still was to defeat the Empire. It's not quite like that with R&C…

They will surely borrow some elements from the Future saga (we already know that "The Last Lombax" is a thing in this), but I doubt we'll see elements of GC's and UYA's stories… Unless we do get some Nefarious' backstory here.
