I have both Resistance books by William C. Dietz, both based around the game. I haven't read either of them yet since I've never played Resistance (believe me, I want to some day), but I think they are well written.
You've never read them, but you think they are well written?
I heard there were some Metal Gear Solid books, but they tried to say everything that happened in the games. Like every item he picked up was mentioned in the book. I've never read it, but I've heard there are moments like "He found a ration and stored it away for later" god, inagine how many times that line would pop up?
I could see this: "And right when he was on the verge of death, Solid Snake remembered that ration he found back in the tank hangar. So quickly went into his items and ate it just in time. Now feeling re-energized he picked up his SOCOM and teared through the attacking soldiers. Shortly after killing the last of them the alert went away, and evasion popped up. Snake put his rations away and grabbed out his box to hide until the alert was lifted."
Of course that is a bit of an exaggeration, but imagine reading a book like that? I'd rather just play the game.
I think it's like making games into movies but cheaper. You can never beat the games.
