Yes I've seen the news about it too and it's so awful I dont actually know anyone there personally or have any family there (I'm in Hawkes Bay) but my best of wishes go out to all those down there who are effected…
One of my friends, her mates father is trapped in the PPG buildings. God this is like a bad dream…

That's really sad I hope for the best of them… but I do keep hearing them bringing out many survivors from the buildings, even through the dark of night. I'll have to go watch TV to catch up with it sometime soon… but I've been viewing a lot of the news online.
Update: 75 dead 300 missing, and their still finding people in buildings so the death toll may rise

I've been following it on TV most of the day, as it's been showing on TV1 and TV3… It's really heartbreaking
I donated some money a few hours ago too, to two funds to help out.
That was very nice of you Tara.

My goodness that is insane.
I've heard about Keysha-Chan on DA doing a donation through DA about the massive earthquake. I think it's very generous for her to do something like that to the community, especially for doing something for a country she was born and raised in.
Very thoughtful indeed. :oui:
Yeah, I donated about $20 US to her for a few sketches, it's real nice to see her raising quite a bit of money already from those. And I also donated another $20 as well to one of the charities… I may be trying to save up (even struggling a bit), but I wanted to at least give something to help those who are effected.
With the way the economy is working here, it is rare to see people doing good will deeds to donate in today's world. Some people are very generous to help others, while the other half hesitates because either their life is at stake or the other way around (aka the greedy buggers).
So yeah, I think it's very thoughtful for you to do that. And of course, living in the country you live in and are proud to live in it makes you want to help out. If for instance, Toronto involved a destructive event, I would have done the same thing.
My computer crashed three times today!! THREE TIMES!! (
Just out of curiosity, I wanted to check up any footage that were caught after the New Zealand earthquake on youtube. Now I can fully understand the big deal out of this one. I spotted massive destructions on buildings that looked like nobody couldn't survive that. It's shocking and pretty scary to look through.
Collected 9 bags of cans going door to door only to find the Red Cross only wants money because they can't get the cans down there. Oh well, I suppose the salvation army can do something with it. At least I tried…
(edit) don't worry tipsy their rescueing lots of people from the rubble who just need a stay in hospital and a drip for dehydration…
