I can get internet access in Pripyat.
I'm pretty sure it's not because you live near the border.

Well winter is just startin' up and it is really starting too show! Today it has been terrible weather and EVERYONE got soaed at school, no matter where you hang out or how causously you get to class, you WOULD get soaked. It would go and go (very heavily) then STOP all of a sudden? The sun would come out and people wold not be all that afraid too walk out in the open and let down thier umbrellas… THEN it would start all of a sudden! In a second all those people would get drenched! But here we talk about power failure, and talk about it i shall. This afternoon it has been bad for that, and along with constant rain have been at least 3 power failures in a row! Within seconds it goes out then minutes later, back on, then off! At one point the lights were flickering and TVs beeping! I'm afraid i don't have long before the next soo i will end with… see ya next time i have a power cut (5 minutes?) (Just kidding.)
I don't think I have ever had a power outage in Winter. Only very rarely in Spring or Summer.
Sorry for double-posting, but I just had another power outage this morning. 
Apparently, the main power lines blew a fuse. I think it blew from an overload caused by a tree in my neighbor's yard.
It wasn't storming, and it wasn't windy either, the tree is growing into the wires because he planted it right under them. 
we are getting a very minimal ammout ATM, about two or three scince I last posted on this thread. However on on fiday I got out the great inFamous 2 and on my way home it was pouring down with rain, and lightning striking everywhere! Was quite interesting, considering the game I had gotten out 
But then I began to worry if a power cut was comming? The only night I would be able to play the game and It looked as if I might not be able to? Luckly I was able to play all night
