If he said "My nose will grow, now" then it will be a lie and his nose will grow just after the period that he specified since he would've been wrong about when it will grow, so his nose will grow but at a different time than he specified.

The thing is, if you say something like "The earth will die" then you are predicting something that almost certainly will happen. So you would not be lying. But if you said "The world will continue to exist for eternity", then you are almost certainly wrong, and are therefore lying. Note the use of the word "will". See if you say that these things "might" happen, then you are simply guessing, and are therefore open to the chances of the event not happening.

So if Pinocchio says "My nose might grow" then there is doubt, and he can get away with not having lied regardless of what has happened. But if he says "My nose will grow", then his nose absolutely has to grow in order for what he has said to be true, otherwise it is a lie and his nose must grow anyway.
