I get your point, but the direction the movie design is taking is even worse for a character like Qwark in my opinion :/

That's… actually pretty clever of them…

I dunno. It just seems like they based it on ToD's character design, but with a more realistic human'ish face and life-like eyes.

His movement znd dialogue also seems to be very accurate. Maybe some more trailer will drag you over the edge!

To me, it's a comic design (wich I really don't like) in 3D. He's just not enough qwarkish, not akward enough. But his movement, phrases and Jim Ward - it's all pure Qwark emoji

I see what you guys mean. To me there have been many highs and lows to every Qwark, in ever game.

ToD: I really did love his design. I was easily much better than the PS2 games, and I can still feel confident he hasn't changed a bit… except that he's HD and better animated.

A4O: I found his heroic butt-chin disappearing both amusing and mysterious. It's funny seeing it slowly disappear into nothing, considering how ridiculous in was in the PS2 days. But back then it was a massive feature, and there were many laughs to be had about it. But now it is gone, so he's just drifting towards a more cartoony and simplistic look fr the character. I also noticed he was absurdly stupid in this game. I like to think the scene in my avatar was a perfect example of how low he'd dropped on the whole intelligence level.

Movie: You could say it looks like he's given himself plastic surgery, and I kinda see what you mean. But I like to think they are going for a different Qwark here. We're stepping back quite a way. He isn't a total moron, and he hasn't done anything mean and evil yet. He's a totally 'legitimate hero'… to the public, and the Ratchet & Clank. The plastic look he has is probably to give us this impression of his character being artificial. That Qwark looks like a hero, because he's set himself up to look like one.

Also note how Qwark is not acting like himself. He's not being dumb, but still being self-absorbed. That's how he was in R&C1. He was quite different was R&C3 onwards. But I doubt they will make him too serious. After all, they've been writing silly Qwark for a long time now… but hey, as long as he doesn't reach A4O level of stupidity, I'm happy.

EDIT: Oh and I'd love to join you in your quest across LittleBigPlanet, Darkstar. I have a lot of time to kill for the next month, and not many things I can use to kill it with.

Huzzah! 2 out of 4.

Anyway, I like new Qwark but I'm worried he's teaming up wih Nefarious, which would completely destroy his epic comeback in UYA's climax.

Speaking of that, am I the only one who hated Qwark in ToD because he lost all of his character development from UYA? That was one of the game's main plot points and they just threw it out of the window with the generation jump!
Although, when I think about it, ToD is pretty much a retelling of the first game: Evil tyrant is destroying planets, Qwark teams up with the bad guy and Ratchet is a jerk to Clank for no reason.

There is no way Qwark can team up with Nefarious. They are greater enemies than Ratchet and Nefarious (until ACiT. Ratchet surpasses Qwark in that game in terms of most annoying towards Nefarious' plans.

I could imagine Ratchet & Clank fighting Drek and Qwark, then when Qwark is seemingly defeated Nefarious comes into the picture, teaming up with Drek. This would lead Qwark to turn to Ratchet & Clank, due to them sharing a common interest, and giving Qwark another shot at the hero role. However this time Qwark is following Ratchet & Clank, and not the other way around. That should be re-telling enough!

Speaking of Ratchet annoying Nefarious, maybe it's just me, but one of the most satisfying moments in a game to me, was when Nefarious finally aknowledged Ratchet as a nuisance, a threat. I don't know, but it just felt so satisfying hearing him focus 100% on Ratchet during the last third.

I too, felt it was pretty cool to finally get him yelling out Ratchet! It sounded strange at first though, because we were o used to him yelling out "Qwark!", that if he had done it there It probably wouldn't have sounded that out of place.

I just realised something about ACiT…
did Ratchet and Clank even try to stop Nefarious before they got to the space station?
Ratchet just wandered around being useless to the plot while Clank just fixed the clock, which ended up benefitiating Nefarious.

I just thought of this because I was re-calling that crack Ratchet made on Nefarious' face, and how he could have easily stopped Orvus' "death" if he hadn't been standing around being useless. Almost as if he didn't want to be part of the plot.

Oh no! The main character doesn't want to be part of the plot! This is MGS4 all over again!

I think the main focus was on Ratchet becoming a sort of sidekick to Azimuth, who wanted nothing more than to get to the Clock. So they had that become our top priority, until Azimuth and Ratchet go their separate ways due to the re-introduction of Clank. At which point the priorities have shifted, and Ratchet no longer cares about the Clock, and just wants to stop Nefarious in good old Ratchet & Clank fashion!

When you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Yet again enforcing this strong friendship that Ratchet & Clank must keep to keep them from going all "reward over consequence" on us!

Nah, a better example would be MGS2 where Raiden sees Vamp slaughter those Seals but decides to do nothing about it.

Going back to the crack scene though, Ratchet's objective there was to save Orvus, so I just don't understand why he did nothing about it. "Not far enough" Whatever helps you sleep at night, Ratchet.

Also, don't you think Tachyon's death would be pretty big news? Why does Azimuth treat him like a rookie who has no experience on the battlefield?
Hell, if I was the galactic president, I would've put Ratchet in charge of the Polaris Defence Force right away!

I guess Azimuth just feels that Ratchet isn't living his life the way Lombaxes are meant to live. Drumming into him that whole "reward over consequences" thing and acting superior, in an effort to make him prioritise saving the Lombaxes over stopping the bad guy, which Azimuth naturally wants to do.

And I meant Snake in MGS4, because he seems pretty zoned out, like he wants nothing to do with the story, but stop Liquid. He also strikes me as being really absent-minded while speaking, as he repeats the last few lines in the form of a question a lot more, and whenever sharing his own thoughts on something 9 times out of 10 it's him complaining about being labelled a hero. While that falls under him not wanting to be in the game (like Kojima not wanting to use him anymore), it doesn't really relate much to Ratchet standing there watching Orvus be "killed".

I guess it's somewhat similar to how villains like Nefarious always stand there rambling on about how they're going to destroy the protagonist, and what they'll do after that. I too hate that sort of thing, and feel there are less ridiculous and more realistic ways of getting to know your villains. Even if it means cutting away to them a little more often and leaving the protagonist far less informed than the viewer in a similar fashion to Killzone 3.

EDIT: On the subject of random things: Here is a video that analyses the MGSV trailer for those that care for a much much greater understanding of te game. I am even more excited than ever to see this game! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TweQFn-O2VU

Already watched it, you can see my ignorant casual comment somewhere.
Seriously, I think some people on that comment section get the Foxhound rank on a MGS3 run just for fun…
