Sujet : Family Guy

What are your thoughts about this animated show?

In my honest humble opinion, Family Guy to me right now is a hit or miss. Either the episodes or moments can be funny and enjoyable or it can be the other way around, which is offensive and unfunny.

I think Family Guy has some great nostalgia pop culture references and even the singing moments are really well done in the show too, but a lot of it's humour is not really my cup of tea, especially ones from later seasons. It's either I don't get the jokes or some of it humour goes into some risky situations.

But then again, I was more of a Simpsons fan when Family Guy first debut back in 1999.

To be honest, I don't like comedy shows such as Family Guy.

It's pretty much only funny if you get the real world references, and even then, a lot of people laugh at it "OH ITS FUNNEH CUZ HE SAID IT ON FAMILY GUY". Really, it got annoying, plus the show is boring to me, IMO.

the show is bound to cause trouble just like carbonfibreguy said but a bit diffrent not only that theye say stuff like that but it'll give some kids,teen, and even adults the wrong idea.

meh some of the comedy is ok but the rest is utter crap in my opinion

Well I love family guy, I rarely get offended by anything so I find everything in it funny, heck, I love when they make fun of the irish the most, coz I'm able to look at that and think "wow, thats what the world views us as" and laugh

I find the show really funny and sure either some may view it as edgy or just flat out bigotry.
And Like RevanAc, as a Hispanic I laugh when they make fun of Mexicans especially when the said Sex turns straight people gay, and gays into Mexicans everyone goes down a notch…..

That is pretty understandable. I was aware some people quoting a lot of things from Family Guy or people mentioning that this came from Family Guy, even though it something else that referenced the idea first.

I also didn't like how they would repeat some of the same jokes over and over again. The Kool Aid coming back in the courtroom in a later episode was probably the only repetitive joke I laughed at, but others like the "Mr. Conway Twitty" clip gag just got annoying and really got on my nerves.

Well making fun of someone from a different country doesn't offend me that easily, even when FG makes fun of the Portuguese (aka my background nationality). Although, I remember my sister becoming pretty shocked with how the Portuguese were treated in certain episodes.

I think the only time I got offended by Family Guy was when Peter said "Canada Sucks" in one of the first season episodes. But then again, I was 12 around that time when I first watched that episode, so I didn't know how to take crude jokes very well. I even had the same reaction when I watched South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, which also made fun of Canadians too.

But when I think of Family Guy now, I think the only thing that could offend me about this show is some jokes that have hate towards women. Now I do understand that it is a cartoon and it's you cannot get offended by animated figures, but some of the ways the jokes are presented in FG are pretty edgy in my opinion. A woman getting violated by a stalker for a while when Aqua Man is not doing anything to save her… Is that very necessary to watch on your screen?

Family Guy's humour is amusing, I don't find it at all offensive, come on people, it's JOKES, you can't take anything seriously in that show. It's okay, I wasn't only pointing to you about what I've said. Just to anyone in general.

Oops! My fault. That part I misunderstood. Unfortunately Canada doesn't have Adult Swim, so I wouldn't know any other shows in that networks' line up other than Robot Chicken and Home Movies.

Well, the ting about FG is, that it's not afraid to go too far with it's jokes. It also has some great musical numbers (sort of) and some of those cut-aways are pretty funny! Also how some of it is so surreal, such as the chicken fight. Overall, I think FG is pretty funny even if sometimes I don't get a reference to a film or celebrity as their references can be REALLY obscure.

Now dispite what i said earlyer I don't hate the show. But I do think that sometimes they do go a little to far (if no one have said this yet).

I agree completely, Sigma. I hate perverts, and (mainly thanks to Quagmire) alot of "dirty" stuff like that is in taht show.
uhg… i just wish people could also see how stupid things like this really are, dumb mature rated tv shows just for lowlife homour… waste of air time.

family guys pretty "eh" to me. Its OK but if there's something else on I'll watch that instead. The humors too crude for my taste. I prefer Monty Python and Blackadder.
