Sometimes checking out what some R&C fans have to say online makes me laugh.
Whenever Insomniac wants to go on a new approach with their Ratchet games, people would just criticize it right away. Let's take Ratchet: Deadlocked as one example of this discussion. The art style and dark vibe just didn't appeal to many Ratchet and Clank fans right away just because it wasn't like the previous games for the PS2. Even though Deadlocked/Gladiator is supposed to be a spin-off game with it's co-op multiplayer and robust arena gameplay.
Another example would have to be All 4 One. Holy Geez is this one game being criticized or what!?! People are hating this game right away just because of the art style is "terrible" and Ratchet doesn't look cute in this game? That's what some people said about a Crack in Time and somehow, the fans who hated the art direction in A Crack in Time are starting to like it. What the heck fans!?!
Also, fans have asked for a Ratchet multiplayer game for the PS3 for a couple of years now and here it is with All 4 One. In results, fans aren't too happy with it. What the hell!?! You asked for a multiplayer game and here it is! At least Insomniac is listening to you guys and know what you want with this franchise. People are complaining and saying "We want another future title" or "More Lombax origin back stories!" I know that everyone loves R&C for it's platforming adventure gameplay, but people are forgetting the games that are spin-offs. Which focus more on gameplay rather than having an epic story.
But that's not all. People who are fans of Ratchet and Clank or have been fans of the franchise since the first game are hating All 4 One, but somehow they are still going to buy this game anyways… What kind of logic is that? Maybe renting this game before buying the game is something I could accept, but hating a game and still buying it just seems pretty hypocritical, which doesn't make any sense at all.
I'm aware that people have their own opinion on things and cannot be open to new aspects in a game franchise, but saying one thing negatively about one game and deciding to say one thing positively like "I'm still going to get this game, but still hate it anyways" is quite mind boggling.
