Sujet : Really Random thread

Did I mention my co-worker is also my older cousin? Yeah, I hear about it every family dinner. I forgot to mention, but real not from a can, in a restaurant and expensive oxtail soup… contains this'

Warning. Open this and you'll never eat it again… like me

Alright, I'll bite. Aside from rice, what's your favorite dish? :oui:

That didn't affect me, cause I love oxtail soup! emoji

Asides from rice, I'm a big fan of pasta, and cheese! And of course, we don't eat rice plainly emoji. We eat it with other stuff like fried chicken or soup.

This discussion, makes me feel hungry…

I saw that picture and thought: "y'know what? Never mind then"

Agreed on the pasta part. I love it with tuna, a recipe the store gave us samples of. Spaghetti bolognaise of course. In France there's a restraurant franchise called Del Arte, they have the best! Kerry rice, also nice. And fried chicken, love it!

Yeah, me too! Haven't really had breakfast yet. I wanted a bapao from the freezer, but someone ate the last one.

Also, ketupat? Never heard of it. Looks like a basket with bread in it. emoji
Oh, really. You donate the meet afterwards? I used to think it would just… Lay there? My sister was on vacation to Africa last year. When they sacrifsed food, it usually ended up being eaten by local dogs and chickens and what not. emoji

Ketupat is filled with rice, it's not bread! emoji

What, we also call it bapao here! And about the sacrifice meat, we don't donate them all. We can keep some of it. I think according to the religion law, the meat is divided in three: 1/3 to be donated to the poor, 1/3 to be kept by the person who pays for the sacrifice animal, and 1/3 to be given as a present. Like, a present for the man who slaughters the animal.

Alright, let's change the topic: what do you think would be some of video game characters' favourite subject if they attend school? I think Ratchet would love physics, especially mechanics. But maybe not the calculations.

Are we talking about FOOD? Great!
(However, I'm not hungry, I just had chicken soup for lunch)

I like rice, but we don't eat it very often, quite rarely actually. And when we eat it it's either a side dish or (most commonly) a filling (stuffed cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers or soup meatballs).

Risotto is delicious, and pasta, and pizza, and I think I'm in love with the entire Italian cuisine…

I'm also a big fan of Asian food, there are many things I like about it. Me and my dad sometimes make some delicious wok meals (however my mother and my brother would never touch something like that, they're more of a "schnitzel & fries" type). I like spicy dishes a lot and thankfully the Asian cuisine is pretty hot. The only complain I have is that when I order something like this in a restaurant I sometimes get an overly sweet sauce, which is not my taste. That's why I never order Asian dishes from a restaurant which isn't Asian.

In the few days we stood in London, I was lucky enough to find a restaurant named "Sushi Yo". It was one of those neat Japanese restaurants with a conveyor belt constantly carrying tasty looking bowls around the tables. Of course, this was my favorite meal from the whole trip! I also tried "Marble Soda"… I told the waiter that I haven't tried it before, so he let me "struggle" on my own to open the bottle emoji, it's like a fun puzzle that you have to solve in order to get to the juice, which is actually very good.

Ketupat reminds me of lembas emoji

Hey, shouldn't we make a food thread?

Hey, good to have you joining the food talk, Rocky! emoji. Since you're a fan of sea food, go to Palembang. The sea foods are great, and Asian emoji. And maybe some other coastal regions. I won't recommend Bali - from what I know, food in restaurants there are always expensive, and there are too many tourists!

IDEA ACCEPTED, ROCKY.

Aha, should have known!

So, any of you dream to master some languages other than English or your native language?

German, actually. For a Dutchmen it comes with age, but I'd prefer to be able to speak/write it now. Helps with communication and expansion of my future job ^^
You?

I'm still learning Arabic, and still haven't mastered it, yet. It is my dream to be able to speak Arabic fluently. Also, looking forward in learning either Dutch or German.

Sooner or later, most of Europe will have to learn Arabic, too emoji

Actually, they say Chinese will probably become the leading trade language. According to Mass Effect. Defensive: Which is accurate.

Dutch, hmm? I always hear people complain about the spelling, too many rules. emoji

I've been learning German (or should I say "Deutsch"emoji in school, as my 3rd language. However, I know absolutely nothing about Dutch. Is it similar to German?

What I mean with that Arabic - not a trading language, but cultural!
Everyone around me is afraid of some impeding culture shock, and back their belief by the fact that Muslims (I miiiiight be mixing it up, but I think they do speak Arabic) kick other people's dogs in public parks and spas.

No, you're right. Mostly terror caused by media though. But… let's not go there.

Very similar. If you 'Germanify' Dutch, you're saying the right thing 2/3. Only sometimes:
