And, yes you did. But not completely! You would if Ratchet didn't say it himself in the trailer! Although how many people would be frustrated if after the movie they learnt that he wasn't a cat ( in case it wasn't mentioned and they were new to the franchise!).People would think he's a cat?

Well it is an animated movie after all aimed in a big part for the children, who can't understand the whole Lombax species, so it wouldn't be that surprising. Haven't we called him a cat? Not only that but Valkyries even called him "space rat" something even more ridiculous
Yeah, I admit I like to consider the Lombaxes (especially Ratchet) as felines. Besides, according to the wiki, Ratchet's design is based on felines.

But, yeah, Cora seems like she's just going to be a BA fighter girl who kicks butt and takes no nonsense, which I'm perfectly fine with. The focus of the movie is on Ratchet and Clank's growing friendship, and we don't really need a romance distracting from that.
