Yeah, saw it, kinda pompous for a recruitment video of a studio making games about cat-like aliens and shooting zombies with a pizza gun… I mean, "we are a force for good"? It's like some charity organization made this.
That's how organizations run by politically correct people advertise. It's a very common clich'e in the USA: every car commercial is like "explore the next generation," or "drive with confidence"– ALL I WANT IS A CAR WITH GOOD GAS MILLIAGE!!!
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
That's how organizations run by politically correct people advertise.
Um, how does it relate to political correctness… At all?

"Drive with confidence"
I could've sworn I've heard that sentence many times from car ads

Errhh, please don't…..
It does make A LOT of valid points…
Yeah, and a lot more meaningless ones!
Yeah, and a lot more meaningless ones!
I think this video's point is to highlight the negative aspects of the game, as most of the (favourable) reviews did not really focus on them… And there are many bad things about this game, unfortunately. The positives are out there and while I did enjoy R&C PS4, I agree with pretty much everything in this video (only the overpraising of the original game and way too harsh criticizm of the soundtrack bugged me, that's it).

He is just crapping on the PS4 game. Basically he only likes RC1 and GC. RC1 is a game that hasn't aged that well yet he is prasing its gameplay just for being "challenging" when in reality it is just frustrating.
Criticizm is not about finding the negative things but also promoting the positive ones. At least that's supposed to be constructive criticizm. But the video is the opposite of this.
And his video is one of the reasons why the R&C community got split… Another reason is his UYA video. He will be amazed when he finds out that R&C1 and GC are not flawless like the rest of the games.
This guy is just screaming for views and is being even more edgy.

To be honest, I was a bit shocked when he stated that he was disappointed with UYA. I mean, even a new fan with decent R&C knowledge would know that that's the majority of the fandom's favorite game other than ACiT. And since I didn't even spend a minute on the video, let me just be sure, was he really that harsh in criticizing the remake?

From what i atempted to see from the video, it kinda of seems that way( honestly i never fully try to watch the video because i wasn't going to waste my time watching and hour and fifteen minute video just to piss myself off).

Honestly, despite many things about the original game being dated… It is still my favourite from the original trilogy. It is not flawless, as he does seem to portray it, but it is still a great game, in some aspects better than the remake.
Criticizm is not about finding the negative things but also promoting the positive ones. At least that's supposed to be constructive criticizm. But the video is the opposite of this.
Again, I kinda see where his coming from… Upon it's release the game was really, really praised, and while I'm glad it did, people seemed to ignore, that… It is not that amazing, especially, when you look at the franchises history - it's actually the least innovative title in the entire series. The video adresses many issues that should be adressed and Insomniac should take into consideration while thinking about their next games. The Gaming Brit talks about what he doesn't like about the writing (seriously though, as someone, who enjoyed the movie, the story was handeled absolutely TERRIBLY in the game), the art direction, the combat, etc. and explains what's lacking in his opinion and what could've been done to improve the experience. As I said, he does overpraise the original game, but I still think most his arguements qualify as constructive criticism.
quote=Handem]And his video is one of the reasons why the R&C community got split…So? The discussion is going, arguement is the source of progress, just because you liked the overall experience doesn't mean the issues should not be adressed. Most people still praise R&C PS4, so these few voices of (constructive) criticism are really welcome.
Another reason is his UYA video.
He mentioned more than once that he still enjoys the game and doesn't consider it 'bad' - there, he made it clear at the start, that even though he likes it, it is his point to examine, what did not work in UYA, a game, that's been gloryfied for over 10 years as the best, the most amazing Ratchet game ever. Theis video is actually something I've been actually waiting for someone to do for a long time, as UYA has always been my least favourite out of the original three and I hoped someone would adress it's issues (and I did agree with everything in the video except for the story).

Another point is that he blidnly assumes things without even searching but anyway. He didn't really provide any constructive criticizm by saying what could be done, he was simply mentioning all the things he found negative (the whole game actually). I guess we can all agree that the writing definetely lacks but that's not just IG's fault! The game had to follow the movie's story and this went through a lot of stages before becoming a mess. I also enjoyed the movie but I could realise that the writing had problems. At the time Tj wasn't working for IG so probably they had to have someone else do his job that's why it probably seemed like out of place. And let's be honest the game definetely does NOT lack in art direction or combat! I mean, seriously, the ps4 game really nailed combat and even if it didn't at least is a lot of time better than in R&C1.
And about innovation… Only 2 games have been really innovating, GC and ACiT and both didn't really change drastically. And the game really deserved all the praise. It did all things right except from writing. Exactly what would someone should expect from a remake of a game that also acts a spiritual successor and a definitive experience.

The discussion is going with people simply hating the game because they blindly listened to somebody unecessarily ranting about it.

And he calls it disappointing… Do I really need to say more? This guy is simply doing this for views! He doesn't really care for the games to get better. He also made a lot of mistakes about the development and the multiplayer of the game. That's why I am saying that he should at least make some research before.
Oh and "it is his point to examine, what did not work in UYA". This is what split the fans. He is showing only the bad in the games forgetting to mention the good and messes with people's opinions! It is not normal a game loved by so many to become hated just because someone said so. It's like they simply forget the good things that made them like this game!

It does not matter, who's fault it was, it was (really) bad. And even following the movie, it could've been much better - I get it, they made it in a rush and it's still a miracle this game turned out as good as it did, but stil… The writing is bad.
And let's be honest the game definetely does NOT lack in art direction or combat! I mean, seriously, the ps4 game really nailed combat and even if it didn't at least is a lot of time better than in R&C1.
Okay, maybe I put it wrong, when I said about the 'combat' being flawed - it's rather the problem of the game's main challange being just bigger and bigger waves of enemies coming at you. The original was WAY more varied in it's gameplay styles, it had a lot of action, but it also foundtime for some quiet moments, or the moody levels, like Orxon or Gemlik Base. In the PS4 game you spend 85% of your time on shooting waves after waves of enemies, every planet is a fast paced battlefield level. It sometimes throws a simple platforming or water section at you, but they last very short and don't really provide any challange. As to art direction… The game does look pretty, but it also lost some of it's identity - the direction it went to is more generic sci-fi mixed with more generic cartoon aesthetics. It is executed well, but I can see people being dissappointed in it.
And about innovation… Only 2 games have been really innovating, GC and ACiT and both didn't really change drastically. And the game really deserved all the praise. It did all things right except from writing. Exactly what would someone should expect from a remake of a game that also acts a spiritual successor and a definitive experience.
Every game has thrown SOMETHING new at you. New gadgets, new weapons, new gimmicks, improved mechanics, you name it. Even Nexus offered you the improved FFA's control scheme, the jetpack, that gravity gun, the Zero-G levels, brand new Clank levels, new Raritanium upgrade system, a few new weapons… What PS4 game brings to the table are Clank levels (and they are GREAT, that I must admit), the Pixelazer (which is just a funny shotgun) and the Proton Drum and that's it.
And he calls it disappointing…
After playing R&C1 and GC and hearing so much about it… I did find it disappointing.

Wait, did UYA really suddenly become hated by half of the fanbase? You really overexadurate the impact these vids have.

Okay, enough debate for now.
Yesterday the equinox happened (the sun passed directly over the equator) and it was horrible for us in Indonesia, since we live in a tropical climate. It was so horribly hot and even the government warned us to stay indoors if we didn't need to do something urgent outdoors. Luckily it eventually rained in my town at around 4 or 5 pm. Not sure if today's gonna be a bit cooler or still hot.
So, how's autumn out there? Is it already getting colder?
