Thread: Ratchet & Clank Presentation

Hey everyone

I'm doing a Ratchet & Clank presentation for college for my course in Computing in Games Development.

I've done a lot in it but it needs to be at least 20 mins long and its only, at the most, 10. I'm doing it on the development of R&C from the first one to R&C: ACIT and I've run out of ideas.

I've covered different environments (Jungle/forest, Mountainous/Desert/Volcanic, Arctic, cities, etc…emoji, how certain weapons changed styles (blasters, flamethrowers, wrench, R.Y.N.O.) and Characters that have shown up the most (Ratchet, Clank, Qwark, etc…emoji.

Does anyone have any other ideas of what I can put in it?
Any help would be appreciated. emoji

If anyone wants to see it, I'll upload the presentation after I've given it (In case they think I just stole it from the internet)

Thanks

Heh that sounds quite interesting, especially how it's a project that's for Ratchet too XD

And well, I'm not completely sure how you can make it longer, depends how much detail you've already put into presenting the games, did you go more in-depth into the later games for the PS3? Or maybe even mentions of concept work with some of the games, like 'making of' and such?

Well, for example, for showing the development of Ratchet I talk about how his model has changed over time (being more detailed, better textures, Actual fur rather tan a flat texture, etc…emoji and then I have a slide that shows every ratchet from each game, then I have a slide that has a pic of ratchet from the first one and the pic my avatar came from to compare the changes.

I'd like to add a lot more for the slides on ratchet coz he's the main character and is my favorite video game character of all time. But i should try stretch out the rest too.

Do you know where to get any concept art? I could do a whole other section on that. The only place i can find some is insomniac.com but it wont let me save them

Heh well first off, there is A LOT of concept art, here at Ratchet Galaxy XD just go here http://en.ratchet-galaxy.com/artworks.php and yeah, you'll be able to find the rest for each game, section etc. It should help a lot… though there is more concept art out there I think. And on the Insomniac site, I'm able to save the pics… maybe it was the browser you're using?

And hmm what about some of the development team who worked with the games? Do they have mentions throughout the presentation as well?

I would really enjoy seeing it, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, so don't hesitate emoji

Yeah, i'll put it up tomorrow as it is now 2am (Irish time), I might try post it via the fan art uploader if i'm allowed.

If not I'll find some site to put it on and make a link to it.

You could try Youtube, but the problem with that site is that it has a 10 minute limit. But there are other video sites out there that could be better for that (and are free too)

Any one know where I can put this presentation? I tried uploading it via the My Art uploader but it didn't work.
Its a power-point presentation so it cant go on youtube.

Anyone suggest anything?

Well, I suggest you put the powerpoint file in a winrar archive, and then upload it on megaupload emoji

Ah so it's a Powerpoint ehh? Dang, I'll have to try finding my Microsoft CD then (to install Powerpoint back on, lol) but yeah, Megaupload is good for uploading anything, I use it too.

You don't need to be registered on megaupload, to upload files.

Just click the link megaupload.com and you should have the choice to browse (black button), or send files (orange button).

I am interested in doing a college computer course as well. How many years are you doing, and what are the times that you must go to class and lectures?
I need to know this!

Well in my course (Computing in Games Development) its a 4 year course and well, my classes are on all day till about 3 most days, its a mix of computer labs and lectures (mostly labs emoji ) and its a good idea to show up to as many classes as possible if you want to pass. Its the best course ever tho, all my class mates and most of my lecturers are gamers, we make games, talk about games (in one class we actually talked about how we can use time travel in a game! awesome or what!), do LAN games in our spare time, and I just wouldn't be able to do any other course after doing this one. its awesome!

About the presentation, hitting a few speed bumps gettin it to upload but i'll post a link as soon as its up
