Thread: Degrassi?????????

DEGRASSI IS THE MOST POINTLESS AND $exu@l SHOW EVER! Who wants to watch teens try to have $ex and hook up with one another? They try to have serious topics, but one way or another it links back to someone having a boyfriend. I gave this show a chance to be fair. I changed the channel in the first 10 minutes. You know why? because in the first 10 minutes a girl was trying to get inside a guy's pants. SERIOUSLY NICKELODEON???

Well if you aren't familiar with Degrassi in the past, then this stuff will be complete new for you. In other words, this kind of content in this show doesn't surprise me one bit.

Degrassi started off as an innocent kids drama in the late 70's to early 80's. Then once Degrassi Junior High came on the air, the episodes went into some risky situations that involves problems with students in a junior high school or high school if you watch Degrassi High. Problems like teen pregnancy, death of a student and getting Aids from unprotected sex were some rough topics that the show were shown in the series. There was even one episode that involved abortion, which was pretty controversial when it was first aired on PBS around the late 80's.

The series was first originally done in Canada, so the creator of the series wanted to portray the reality of what being in high school or even junior high is really like, with a real school, gritty atmosphere, and actual kids or teenagers that plays the students. Degrassi pretty much wanted to be accurate to what high school is like compared to American teen programming such as Saved By The Bell and Beverly Hills 90210. Which those two shows for example were inaccurate to what high school is truly like and had adult actors play the roles of the students. Plus, it was over the top with a lot cheese ball acting and even humour.

I am not sure what Degrassi is like now since I gave the series up after Degrassi: The Next Generation, so maybe the TV series now has probably changed compared to what I have seen before.
