So, I wanted to make this question for a long time. Since Ratchet doesn't speak or read Lombax how did he know Aphelion was a she as his statement was "We have to fix her" ? Are all ship female or was it just instict. I know it's not really serious but… curiosity!
Traditionally in the real world, people tend to refer to vehicles, especially boats, by female pronouns. Often in Science Fiction, this is also translated across to spaceships. Ratchet most likely said "we have to fix her" because it sounds more eloquent than "we have to fix it", and referring to a ship as "he" probably would have sounded peculiar…
