Thread: Overstrike: Insomniac's multiplatform game

I'm super exited for the announcement on Monday, are you guys?
I've been dying to hear what it is since they announced they were making one. What do you think it could be?

I for one hope to God it's not an FPS (first person shooter). There are so many companies jumping on that bandwagon now, and I personally find them to be rather boring. However, I've heard some people speculate that because it'll be on the Xbox too, it'll most likely be one (probably a silly reason :P).
I really hope it's a platformer, there's a serious lack of platform games nowadays (the only modern ones I can think of now are RaC, and that really ugly Spyro game).

Also, what about that rumour going around that Insomniac Games are making an Xbox exclusive game? Insomniac have already dismissed this rumour, but if they did, would you be mad at them?

I guess we can keep this recent thread up and I'll just close the old thread of this once I find in the General Discussions section.

But going back on topic, I'm quite surprise Insomniac didn't forget about their new game idea. I am aware they are occupied with their upcoming games at the meantime, but it definitely took months to mention about their new idea going on multiple consoles again.

I wouldn't mind the new idea becoming another platformer or an action adventure title, but with a unique concept and look (in other words, not another gritty looking game like Resistance). There's a lack of variety other than Nintendo in those two game genres so I wouldn't mind seeing another game type like this for their new idea… or even something completely different like an RPG for example.

So yeah, looks like there's going to be a lot of upcoming news about IG for next week.

I can't help but be disappointed. I really didn't want another kind of gritty type of semi realistic shooter, but meh. :P

Despite "Overstrike" is another shooter, I do have to admit the concept and characters are quite intriguing and charming. Kind of like Team Fortress 2, but with female fighters in the main cast.

This could possibly be another shooter I might enjoy other than just Perfect Dark on the N64….Possibly.

I have my reservations, but I will wait :P I have faith in Insomniac, and the characters do look intriguing. One thing I did notice was the amazing attention to the facial animation :O

Well at first glance i thought it was not so impresive. And i am a Resistance fan (kinda… Okay not really too much, but like where they are heading and buying the games and plan on getting all Intel) the main Character looks funny The enimeis they fight look more of the same… Until they meet that Terminator type thingy That changed my opinion a bit… Will definately hire and consider buying… Man I am gonna be outta cash by the time I have brought booth R&C:A4O AND Resistance 3. How will i get this?

I am a major IG fan and sadly haven't played thier old games. But R&C & Resistance booth amase me! So I am sure this won't fail. One thing i was thinking while watching the trailer was… Is this really a game or a movie? I mean seriously who here could be fooled this was a movie if told? I would. I mean they only have like one special gun each and the stuff they do doesn't look like a player did that Nah but seriously i think it will be okay… This is Insomniac after all

Oh awesome, it is great to see their multiplatform game announced…. at last :p

Although I'm not really into gritty, realistic games. And not FPS's at all neither BUT this game doesnt look so 'bad', in fact, the characters look pretty fun and likable. And it has a sense of humour. And it isn't 'too realistic and dark' like Resistance is. It has a style to it, and it looks alright

Overall, probably not my type of game (I'm just too much into Platformers XD) but it looks pretty fun. We'll have to see how it does, Im sure my bro's will like it though heh

It looks kinda like a cross between "Team Fortress 2" by Valve, and The Terminator…

YES this game is confirmed a Third Person Shooter! That changes ALOT I was worried it might be FPS from what I had been hearing

Now for some pretty solid evidence! Insomniac Games' CEO Ted Price had a nice conversation here about the game! Revealing that it is Third-Person action game, funny how he didn't say shooter? He also confirmed you aren't limeted to the weapons seen in the trailer. He also says the humor is there but not like what you are use to "It's not in-your-face humour. It's a more subtle humour. Our intention is to reach out to an audience that's a little bit older than what some of our fans are used to." still its humor oh and if you don't like Resistance… Who cares Ted says it's more Ratchet than Resistance so don't be getting bad thoughts about this game now.
