Thread: Ratchet & Clank Map of the Universe

Has anyone made one of those? Jackiveretti over at the boards of GameFAQs made a topic asking the same thing, and I think it'd be pretty nifty, despite some issues with the fact that we don't know all that much about some galaxies. Most notably the Kavorian. We saw it once in a prequel webcomic to Deadlocked and that was the only time. Not only that, there's a lot of planets and locations that are mentioned, but not properly shown. Would the map maker or makers show these planets and locales? An R&C map would be really cool, but there's still a lo t we don't know about the galaxies of R&C. Even a map of Solana would look a tad empty, and we've explored that galaxy more than any other.

Well, anyhow, what are your thoughts on the creation of a comprehensive map of the Ratchet & Clank universe?

And the topic over at GameFAQs is here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/663930-the-ratchet-and-clank-collection/62739535

That would be nice.

Agreed… Wonder how big it will be… But anyway..

Dude, think it through, First of all, you have the 3 major galaxies from the R&C series: Polaris, Artemis and Solana, Then you have all the systems and sectors in the galaxy, so you have to name and mark it's specific location on each galaxy map, then you have all the planets in each system, it all has to be marked down so obviously it will be quite big, right? BTW I dont mean a real life scale…

I'm sure Artemis would have been dismantled. And don't for get about Bogon!

Don't forget dimension A2-64!
And i got a program allowing you to draw star maps… i can see what i can do.. But, i'm not sure!

Does the Artemis galaxy count as a proper galaxy? It did only consist of planets taken from other galaxies after all…

Now that you guys mention it, Artemis is indeed not a proper galaxy! due to the fact that it was an artificial galaxy created from other stolen planets. It probably has been dismantled Because all the planets were returned to their original galaxies after the events of the comic series.

Looking at the map of Size Matters, it looks a lot like it's just one solar system, and not an actual map of Solana. What do you guys think? I know that the map for Going Commando looked like a single solar system as well, but Yeedil was where a sun should have been, so I decided it was a map of the entire Bogon Galaxy. With Yeedil being uncomfortably close to the galactic core.

Also, Kerwan, Aridia, Rilgar, and Pokitaru (assuming SM's map is in fact the Solana Galaxy and not just a solar system) move between the games they're featured in. So should they be put where their first appearances were or where their latest appearances are?

ALSO, none of the planets in Deadlocked are shown on a galactic map. Though I assume they're somewhere in the vicinity of Orxon, which has been shown on a galactic map before. As well as Magmos, Nefarious' unnamed ice planet (featured in the Qwark Vid-Comics), Merdegraw, and Magnus being giving no location in the galaxy. And the Breegus System from A Crack in Time. Where is that? Is it in Polaris? If so, where?

This isn't even taking into account the planets that have been mentioned but never shown. I'd like to at least have the planets that we've set foot on be on the map though. Though I think the Kavorian galaxy can be excluded from this sort of project. We only know of one planet in that galaxy anyway.

So many complications! But yeah, I do see how all of this has to fit in. Good job to whoever can actually do it!

How would you know the exact coordinates for each of the galaxies? If someone was supposed to make a map of the R&C universe, they would start out marking the locations of each of the galaxies, right?

Well, Bogon could just be an elliptic galaxy. Remember that the distances in space are quite a bit longer, so Yeedil might still be hundreds of light years from the centre (as e.g. Milky Way is 100 000-120 000 light years in diameter).

We do however know that Solana is a spiral galaxy, as seen in R&C1.

In a three-dimensional (height x width x depth) space three dots (the three known galaxies in this case) can be seen in any possible order (they always form a triangle though), depending on the point of view. Therefore they can be put on a two-dimensional map (paper, computer screen etc.) in any order.

Very interesting topicemoji.
I wonder how the maps of the Solana, Bogon a,d Polaris Galaxy would look like.
Can you guys imagine that?
If you do, why don't you try to draw view maps and show in on Deviant Art?
i'd like to see itemoji!
