Hey, I've got a little sugestion. You can make Dak & Jaxter not just Jak & Daxter with different names, but a game with new world and characters (of course basing everything on J&D: TPL). For example, Oversea Village can be placed not on the south but on the north of world, near the snowy mountains. Also, Misty Islang can be turned into Foggy Canyon, or Volcanic Crater can be turned into Oce Pit (read "Oce" backwards, and you'll know what I mean), same with characters. But you should definitly base your game on Ratchetrulers plot :oui:

that's what his initial plan was. I just recommended he keep the names the same so that it could feel more like a Jak & Daxter game. You remember The Lost Frontier? Being very different was a bad thing, but getting rid of Haven was just too much. Jak's world is Haven, and I could think of a bazillion different stories to be set there. If you used the same areas from TPL it would be best that they retain their names, or at least have similar ones, but what's stopping you making whole new locations? Oce Canyon could be another level hub type place using the fire theme?

Well, actually, I didn't play TLF, but heard some thing about it. And yeah, Jak need Haven City (and Haven need Jak) I wanted to suggest making Dak & Jaxter completly new game, but with a lot of inspiration taken from "The Precursors Legacy". But yeah, It can also be Jak & Daxter with different names. Still, it will be a great experience, as we may get a chance to explore some new locations and villages. Good luck, Ratchet25

Well the stories I came up with were based around Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, but of course for new games. I myself love the old world, and wish Ratchet25 the best of luck. I just wonder how he's going…

How's the progress for this coming along? Are you still making it?
Yeah, I'm still making it, but I lost all the data on my computer so I had to restart the project.

Damn that sucks. I hope that it wasn't too great a set back.

Update:
With the lost of my Computer a few months back, the engine I had created was deleted and there's no way I can re-create it. With that loss I can't make a proper platformer anymore, so I decided to jump on RPG maker, so it went from a platformer to an RPG. I'll release a demo for people to see if they like the game or not. If not, I'll need to create another engine (which is really a hard step when making a game, so I hope you understand my decision).
I also created some cameos of other video-game characters (I won't tell which ones are in, just a little disclaimer).
So yeah, that's the current state of the game.
I was wondering about the creation process, and even as RPG, I'm waiting to see the game. I don't know how far have you went, but if you stick to Ratchetruler's plot (the one about events before TPL), you could make an entirely new villge in snowy mountains. It's residents would be Yellow Sage, Daxter/Jaxter (Jak/Dak will meet him there), Geologist and the two miners. During events of the game, the villge will be destroyed by Lurkers, so it's residents will move on to other places. It's just my idea.
Also, I've got a question. As a person who doesn't know literally ANYTHING about programing, but who want to make a fan game too, what game making software should I start with? Is Game Maker good for start?

Try Scratch, it's way too limited for my taste but it is good as a starting point.
First screenshot! This screenshot shows the in-game dialog and a map that will suffer changes since this is still in Alpha state (I hope so, it sucks at this state).
Characters are still the generic RPG Maker characters and not the Jak and Daxter characters, but as I said before, the game is still in it's Alpha build.
