It's kinda annoying that most of the PS3 games doesn't allow you to do that - so far I've seen 'change language' option only in Naughty Dog games and Epic Mickey 2 demo. Why do I have to change the system language whenever I want to hear the original version?

Indeed. I always search the fringes of option menu's in games first, so I had already seen the language option. Was quite surprised to see that, even more that you could adjust seperate speech, subtitles and screentexts. I don't mind other games not having it since this is the first time I don't play a game in English with English subs. I just really couldn't take those voices anymore

I would not want to sit through a Japanese walkthrough of any Ratchet game!

Why not?

Japanese always have to do it different. You know when you female game character talks the camera is focussed on their face, because people tend to look into someone's eyes when they speak. In Japanese games the camera is focussed right under their too short skirts. Like really, Japan?
Back to the translation topic. I just bought a deck of '04 Star Wars cards. Where Dark Vador is Obi-Wan's father.. apperently. Something went terribly wrong there.

Not really, I've played many US games where the camera angle is conveniently placed below or above a female character's chest.
Also, since they always have to be different, this means 9 times out of 10 it's the Japanese that make the worth while games.
Anyway, I downloaded a ToD Jap demo some time ago and set my system's language to Japanese.
It had the voices, the hud and the Groovitron songs, but Ratchet's model remained the same. I guess it's because I was playing on a PAL PS3.

You got me there!
Why am I not French…
As is the tradition every year RG, we offer this summer a new community meeting under the sign of good humor and hopefully good weather!
Where? When?
Course of Saturday, July 5 (Lille): grouping in the morning, walk in Lille; then we will have lunch, then head to the cinema for a session of Dragons 2, the sequel to Dreamworks masterpiece. Then we can consider various activities, such as Laserquest.
Conduct of Sunday, July 6 (Paris) grouping in the morning, walk and lunch if we have time, if management at the Japan Expo on the field! The sooner we get there, and we will enjoy this eventful show that the recall includes within it the Comic-Con in recent years. Hard to get bored …
How?
What about financing: planning a modest sum to feed yourself, pay a movie and possibly some related activities. If you plan to attend both days, expect a little more for a ticket Japan Expo.
What about accommodation: some members Lille or Paris should a priori to troubleshoot a limited number of people; to you to arrange directly with them.
Hope to see you there!
For more information and discuss with partipants direction on the topic dedicated to the organization of the meeting!
That was translated off of Google translator and I'm too lazy to edit out gramatical errors, so you'll have to deal with them.

If I were to give the Metal Gear series a try again, which game should I start with? I own the original MGS trilogy, but if I should pick up the story elsewhere I think I'll be able to get my hands on it for cheap.

MGS1.
Best story, best characters and best environment.
Enemies are also dumber than rocks so it's fairly easy. You'll also be able to appreciate the control changes in later games a lot more. There are a few Codec heavy moments, but it's not as bad as MGS2.
Speaking of that, I was so freaking pissed when in MGS2 they said that
everything Snake has done was an act… a legendary soldier at his finest (it's even worse in MGS4 -.-)

I figured I'd have to start there. Well, I'll pick up my good 'ol PSX then.
(Btw, I'm reading the original 'Snow Queen' story. It's very… 'unfollowable')

If you're planning on playing it on an HD TV, then you should play it on PS3 with the smoothing option on.
