Thread: The Ratchet & Clank Movie Game???

As far as I know FFX is just another Classics HD, is it not? I don't really know, just Googled 'remaster comparison'.

No, don't you notice they remade the models?

That's what IG said when asked about "bringing back Ratchet & Clank saga on PS4":
"We are not aware of Sony's plans to bring any old Ratchet games to the PS4."
What a nice equivocal answer emoji

Anywho, IF they were to remake the games, I'd like an R&C collect-a-ton.

If the movie does well I'm sure they won't miss the opportunity to earn some money for the games that are finished already emoji And sell some PS4s as well…

Maybe get some good platforming in there for a change.

Oh I hope for a good platforming - R&C one is still my favourite PS2 game in terms of gameplay.

No? But don't blame me, I have very spoiled eyes. The hair looks more dynamic and the textures are nicer, but I don't really see a poly difference in the model itself.

If they wanted to remake the original Ratchet & Clank on PS4 it would not be at all like the comparisons you guys are posting. PS2 to PS4 would see so much graphical difference, and the gameplay would have to be altered so much, that it would be like a new game.

The voice actor would most likely be JAT, the controls would need to be smoother, strafing would need to come into it, weapon upgrades would need to be introduced (therefore the enemies would need more varieties, and would need to be a lot more powerful).

I'd bet that every level would be redesigned to some extent, some removed, and some added. As I mentioned in another thread, They would have the power to have more space stations, and this would likely include some of Drek's destructive equipment. The original R&C had the levels put together in a way that they had almost no real relevance to the progression of a story. After all, the levels were made, and then a they pieced a story around it. Things are different now.

If they were to do that, then I'll stick to my PS2 thank you very much.
Honestly, I like that throughout the original game you're upgrading Ratchet and not so much his arsenal. It was really awesome going back to Veldin when you had stuff like the double shield, magnet boots, electrolyser, the Clank packs and other different gadgets you had aquired throughout the adventure.
In recent games the gadgets are thinked of last. We got 4 gadgets in ACiT, FOUR!
In R&C1, Ratchet was all over those.

I like the smoothness from the later games, but I think aquiring that smoothness is much more satisfying.

Well considering it would have to follow their PS3 games, they would need to find the right balance.

They could change up the focus a little more from what the games are currently like, by weakening everything (as in the first R&C the damage system could very well be out of 10) and focus on platforming and puzzles more like the original game. They could also try and design some situations where a few weapons in your arsenal are completely ineffective in certain scenarios, just like in the first game.

But on the other end of the spectrum we have the whole 'sticking with the current formula' thing. So it would be nice to see an arena or something, and have upgrading weapons and health. The nanotech vendors don't have to go though. I think it would be cool coming back to Orxon with the O2 mask and finding the vendors to get a Nanopack, or some sort of extra special nanotech thingy.

And searching multiple paths on planets might have the same benefits as the original game, like finding gadgets. but couldn't they go deeper? It's a bit far fetched, but what if the O2 mask could be obtained at Pokitaru, and it would allow you to explore the less polluted areas of Orxon, but the mask alone is not good enough to get you through a certain area in the level where the pollution is really bad. So going back to Rilgar or something with the mask might allow you to swim to a secret area in the water section where you could find the Rilgar sewers and get a special suit for exploring the more acidic areas of the sewers. This suit like all of the gadgets can be equipped at any time and it could be handy on Orxon.

You also do the same thing with Hydropack upgrades, mybe even visiting Slim Cognito o upgrade your gadgets using Pltinum bolts or something (Gold bolts for guns, as used in Nexus). There are all sorts of things they could do to mix it up while still carrying on on the gameplay from Nexus. (although it would be a little less about mass-shooting, and more about strategic weapon selection)

You have some really good ideas, maybe they could hide Omega chips in Challenge Mode instead of having to buy the Omega weapons, and maybe a cool feature where you can mark spots on your map to come back later when you have the correct gadget or weapon to proceed.
Maybe also have some variety in armours (like you said, a suit for surviving toxic environments, maybe a suit that allows you to control Ratchet properly underwater, one that protects you from hot environments, etc…emoji

Also a suit that weighs you down. Useful if you don't enjoy jumping, for areas where there is low gravity, and for walking around at the bottom of water.
Or a suit that allows you to swim in cold water, instead of simply freezing to death. But of course it could only protect you for so long before you freeze to death (to limit the amount of swimming you could do, like the O2 meter. And then you get another upgrade, and you can swim as much as you want.

Maybe draw some inspiration from the Future series and mix the Hydrodisplacer with the Omnisoaker, and maybe have a feature that would allow mixing gadgets with weapons. It's a bit farfetched, but I think it'd be cool to mix the Swingshot with the Rocket Launcher so I'd be able to use certain walls as grapple points.

Ehh, what about a kind of Spin-off of the Ratchet and Clank series? I'm honestly satisfied with there they are currently.

Perhaps like a whole game dedicated on Ratchet's Father; Kaden?

Also add in a couple of new features not in the previous titles like MAYBE Open-world planets similar to Tabora or Grelbin except with less wasteland and more uhh, 'non-exploration terrain'.
And since Kaden was an inventor, why not allow the combination/creation of weapons and gadgets like Darkstar mentioned?

I'd also like to see Alister Azimith back in his prime and see the story unfold. :x
Oh, and a little emphasis on Wrench-to-Wrench combat. I kinda liked the classic hyper-strike-did-more-damage-than-weapons thing.
