Thread: Boss Battles

So i've kinda been halfheartedly browsing the (ghostwreck-ish) forums and I came across one about Ratchet and Clank boss battles. I loved the boss battles in the whole series, how each boss had their each unique design, combat style, weaknesses and arena in which you duked it out Protagonist vs Antagonist.

Since i'm not much of a fan on Necrothreading, i've decided to make a new one (which is kinda inefficient) but nonetheless, I am curious on how the opinions of [Insert Ratchet and Clank Fanbase title here] on their encounters with the newer editions. Eg: Nexus, as it came out a couple months ago.

Example of coverage:
-Most memorable boss
-Most challenging boss
-Most fun boss
-Most time-consuming boss
-Most unexpected boss

Eh, express however you like. This doesn't need to be specificly related to Ratchet and Clank, feel free to bring in alternate game bosses/battles. Oh what the heck.

Ratchet and clank
-Most memorable boss
-Most challenging boss
-Most fun boss
-Most time-consuming boss
-Most unexpected boss

= Alister Azimith

FF XII
-Most memorable boss
-Most challenging boss
-Most fun boss
-Most time-consuming boss
-Most unexpected boss

= Rouge Tomato (Didn't know i had healing potions and just started playing)

I agree. The boss battles threads were cool, and reviving them would be quite unwise.

I've played many boss battles and not reported how much fun they were, so here I go…

Ratchet & Clank
-Most memorable boss: Dr. Nefarious from ACiT, it felt like he really was the same Nefarious as fought in UYA, and the progression of the fight was very cool!
-Most challenging boss: Lord Vorselon the 3rd from ACiT on Hardcore.
-Most fun boss: The dropship from UYA… Okay I just liked the music.
-Most time consuming boss: Alister Azimuth from ACiT, takes a while, this guy.
-Most unexpected boss: Giant Klunk, to be honest I never saw it coming. I would have suspected a Lawrence fight before Klunk!

Other games
-Most memorable boss: Precursor robot from Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
-Most challenging boss: Mr. Dark from Rayman
-Most fun boss: REX vs RAY from Metal Gear Solid 4
-Most time-consuming boss: The End from Metal Gear Solid 3
-Most unexpected boss: Senator Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

-Most memorable boss: Malus (Shadow of the Colossus)
-Most challenging boss: Vaize, Anita and Faina (Skies of Arcadia)
-Most fun boss: Evrae (Final Fantasy X)
-Most time-consuming boss: Yuriev (Xenosaga III)
-Most unexpected boss: Seraph Lamington (Disgaea: Hour of Darkness)

I don't feel like doing it for R&C as odd as that sounds

- Most memorable boss: Andross (StarFox 64 aka Lylat Wars)
- Most challenging boss: Orphan (Final Fantasy XIII)
- Most fun boss: Mz. Ruby (Sly Raccoon)
- Most time-consuming boss: Barthandelus I (Final Fantasy XIII)
- Most unexpected boss: Alister Azimuth (Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time)

Most memorable boss: Ganon (The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time)
Most challenging boss: The Fury still haven't beaten him (MGS3)
Most fun boss: Mr. Freeze (Batman Arkham City)
Most time-consuming boss: The Fury for the same reasons as before (MGS3)
Most unexpected boss: Zero (Megaman X5)

I think the most unexpected R+C boss was Alister Azimuth, I never thought he would turn against ratchet.emoji

Yeah, that was a real shock to me too. But DAYUM, the BGM and cool distracting effects around the Orvus Chamber really made it hard for me to focus on that slippery bipedal feline.

Ohh, not bad. I just kinda liked it for due to the nice String-Instrument entrance and occasional chanting monks. I guess it was a large difference from the other "Final Boss" soundtracks that i kinda found cool.

But i enjoyed these (woo, off topic):

Kalebo III
Bolden
Aridia

I love your logic Darkstar…

Well yeah, UYA's final boss theme may be a little ear raping at the beginning, but it picks up.

I know, but using Salchow against Salchow… what a daring move!

Well, as a whole I wish the Nefarious fight was the final boss of ACiT, it just has a bit more epic in it than the Azimuth fight.

But the Azimuth fight means more to the player, and to Ratchet… although to most people it is sadness or anger. All I felt was that it was right, and that we were doing the right thing by killing him… sadly you don't get to kill him yourself though :/

But Nefarious' motives were far more sinister. He basically wants to kill you as many times as he pleases, that means more to me, and should mean more for Ratchet.
Besides, I could see the Azimuth fight coming from a mile away.
