I wanted it just because I don't own original. Really, in my opinion point of making HD trilogies is more money (for producer) and allowing new generation of gamers to play the classics they couldn't. But that leads us to a question… why there is no (more) backward compacibility in a first place?
For the PS3 and PS4, it was to lower the cost of creating and selling consoles. Since Sony wanted to launch the PS4 at a lower price, they had to remove backwards compatibility. I can't really blame them, though. With how powerful the PS3 is/was, it would have been like adding a whole nother console into the PS4.
