Thread: Uncharted 4 vs. Jak 4 vs. nothing

Its almost October 17th the date hinted in The Last of Us. You could see the date on a calender and a billboard. In the Greatness Awaits trailer there was a doghuise very near to a sign with the number 4 on it.

What do you guys thing? Uncharted 4, Jak 4, nothing or maybe something very unexpected?

Shhh, that's not true, IT SHALL NEVER BE OVER *cries himself to sleep*

I've played all of the Jak games, even te HD Classics on PS3 but I just can't get myself to like it. The Last of Us 2 would be really weird to be teased through The Last of Us 1. So my bets are on Uncharted 4 or either nothing. I really really hope Uncharted 4, makes me want the PS4 even sooner!

Even if you don't like the Jak series, it's most likely Jak 4. The way Uncharted 3 went, it truly felt like the last Uncharted game, it's clearly demonstrated at the end that Nate gave up his treasure hunt habits to live a normal life with Elena and Sully.
Besides, there're millions of people begging for a Jak 4, just because Jak 3 left too many questions.

Sicne The Last of Us was supposed to be Jak 4 and they said "they couldnt give the fans what they wanted", i highly doubt its Jak 4

Sorry I'm saying this but 'yay ^^'. I really want that one title on PS4 I just need to have!

We might not get to see our glorious otssel and angry elf dude in a new HD adventure? *weeps*
Ah well, whatever Naughty Dog has planned will be great anyway.

It's funny how our opinions seem to clash sometimes, I dislike ACiT, one of your favourite games of all time, and you dislike J&D, one of my favourite games of all time.

I came into Jak and Daxter last year I think (might have been the year before that), so when I talk about the games there is no nostalgia talking.

When I sit back and compare it to Uncharted and think about weather I would prefer a Jak 4 or Uncharted 4 I always lean towards Jak 4. Uncharted's strong point seemed to be on those large scale events like the burning house, airplane crash, train wreck, ship flipping and so on… It also has some great humor too. The game is very linear, and unless they are ready to open up the world in Uncharted 4 I will not be voting for that one.

Jak and Daxter has the humor alright, but it also has original and engaging story and characters. Uncharted's characters can be compared to characters in many other games, whereas Vin, Daxter, Samos, Torn, Praxis, and Errol just seem like people I've never met before. The Jak world is easily larger and way more full of life than Uncharted. I like the whole mystery around the universe and precursors. The fact that there may or may not be these all powerful gods controlling the world in secret, or not for the first 3 games (2.8 anyway).

Jak's world is more unique and special, like Rayman's haunted fairytale world from Rayman 2 and 3. But the great thing is that no one truly even knows what lies beyond Haven City and the Wasteland, let alone the universe. Jak 3 let the games have a good long break which a semi-conclusive game. It felt like the end of a really long series of events, but it also felt like they were not finished, just ready to take a little break.

ND could revive Jak and Daxter if they tried to lean more towards cartoony than realistic, and kept the universe mostly in tact.

Uncharted doesn't seem as unexplored and full of uniqueness though. It's just our world, earth and some guy that wants to find a few secrets here and there. Sort of just 'The Mythological Myth Busters Who Get Followed by Some Mean Spirited People"

I really love Tomb Raider, especially the ones created by Crystal Dynamics. Even though the game is linear, there's so much so explore and they can be very exciting and scary too. When I take the part of Lara Croft I really feel like a part of the Tomb Raider universe. The Crystal game took the series from Core after the games became big downfalls. Angel of Darkness was the ultimate failure and Crystal (Gex, LoKain) got to make the next Tomb Raider. I must say even though I played every Tomb Raider made by Core, it wasn't until I played the Crystal games that I started to love the series. Crystal made the Core games non-canon so I pretend they aren't even part of Tomb Raider anymore.

However… when I played Uncharted I liked it even better than the Crystal Tomb Raiders. Their stories were easier to follow, there was more humor and tons of adventure. But most importantly, it had a great set of characters. Where as Tomb Raider just has Lara Croft to do all the work. Sure there are Alister, Natla, the dobbelganger and such characters. But most of the personality of Tomb Raider Trilogy² lies on Lara's shoulders. Uncharted has Nate, Elena and Sully. Each a great addition to the gaming universe. I like Uncharted better as a full franchise, but Tomb Raider '13 just stole everything back what Uncharted took, enhanced it ever more and just beat ND to the punch with their awesome Tomb Raider reboot.

So yeah. Uncharted is indeed based after Tomb Raider and is visible every second. But why hate that? (no, I'm not saying that anyone here does). Like PS-AllStars copying SSB. I love Uncharted for being like Tomb Raider. I love Tomb Raider - I love Uncharted.

As for Jak & Daxter. The first game I played for little less than halfway. I thought it was quite boring. Searching for stuff in a big area isn't my thing. Neither did I feel attached to the characters and the worst part was the camera-movement that gave me motionsickness. I like Jak II better because they have a world around you that feels alive. There car's you can hijack and guards that can chase you. But still the gameplay just doesn't appeal to me. Like Uncharted being my beloved other Tomb Raider. Jak & Daxter just doesn't feel right. I tried over and over to make myself like it, but it didn't work. I actualy would have loved it if I did like the Jak & Daxter universe, but I just can't. emoji

TLOU on PS4? I didn't check out the link, but I recon that TLOU should never be on PS4, because we here at PS3 don't want it to be abandoned so quickly (And if it comes out on PS4, there is no way I am getting it for PS3)

Then its good for you 'The Last of Us will not be ported to PS4'. Thats wat the article saysemoji

I don't think it's particularly likely that it will be a Jak 4, but at the same time, I really want it to be a Jak 4, since there were still some unresolved plot points at the end of the third game that I would really like to see drawn to a close.

The way Uncharted 3 went, it truly felt like the last Uncharted game

Whilst I didn't ever finish Uncharted 3, so I don't know how it ended, I do remember seeing an interview with someone from Naughty Dog back when Uncharted 3 was released, and they said something along the lines of "we're not done telling stories with Nate", or something like that, so it's more than possible that there may still be an Uncharted 4….
