Thread: Really Random thread

Wanna witness the worst dub? Cause ToD actually got an overlooked Dutch dub. With Klenk and Ratjet.

Oh, and this is kind of cute. German is based on the Dutch language and they are kind of similar. This is German compared to other languages, but it feels the same with Dutch:

I almost cried at the Dutch "Heavily Armed Robot Commandos" emoji
It's so weird, you can kinda make out what they are saying when you speak German, but it sounds like a very drunk swissgerman guy.. no offence, i guess it's the same the other way around.

Also, here is the German version of Let It Go. It's sung by the same person, which is quite cool. But yea, it sounds awful in German..

The German comparison Video is kinda forced.. the first examples really are that extreme (Ok, i don't think they pronounce it THAT agressively) , but after the Pen, most words aren't that common. You wouldn't really use them in every day conversation, or aren't literally the same word.

Cuz Technically:

- Pen:
You usually say "Stift" instead of "Kugelschreiber" if you want a pen. Unless you want a specific Ballpoint Pen, which is literally the same as a Kugelschreiber.

- Ambulance:
We can call it "Ambulanz" too, you know..

- Sex:
As if we would say "Geschlechtsverkehr" every time.. Of course we just say "Sex".

- Hospital:
If you want the same word origin, you would have to use the word "Spital", not "Krankenhaus".

- Speed Limit:
Now they are just scraping the bottom of the barrel. That's a long word to begin with..

- Sawdust:
How is the German word any different from the Swedish one? He just pronounces it like a retard.

Well yea.. emoji

I'm afraid my cousin will take that even worse…
Romania? REALLY?

As I look closer, I'm starting to think this is not a complete list… It's missing Japan, UK, France, Germany, Netherlands… Countries that should be in a first place to get this movie.

Outsider Films?!
Well, looks like I won't be seeing this movie in the theaters…

Is it because of the word 'outsider', or do you happen to know these guys?

They have around 4 voice actors and have only worked on two mediocre movies. Yes, I know these guys…

Oh… Well, our distributor (Kino Swiat) is pretty big and long-time running. Unfortunately, most of the animations they bring here are the mediocre ones… And they always have to include celebrieties in their animations - it doesn't matter if it's a good actor or a weather presenter, or even if the voice really matches the character - they need a name to put on a poster. In fact, their dubs are made in the very studio that works on PlayStation exclusives… I can look forward hearing A4O Clank… But worst of all, when they release a movie on DVD and Blu-Ray, they never include the original version. I will have to buy a copy from UK or US.

I come back after about 2 years…and I have no idea what we are talking about…What are we talking about O.o

This is the really random thread - we discuss everything here emoji Right now we're chatting about different dubs of Ratchet & Clank games (thought we kinda moved to the distribution of the movie in different countries). Nice to see you back emoji

True, true.
Hello!

I've listened to all versions of Let it Go, yet there are 3 that are forbidden ground for me. Dutch, Belgian and German. I never listened too long before dying inside.

And you're right about the words. Geschlechtsverkehr would be 'Geslachtsgemeenschap' here. But thats way too long so it becomes 'seks'.

And yes, it's the same the other way around. When I read German I feel like someone put a Dutch book in a blender. I've had German classes for 2 years in highschool. I never got the rules behind: die, der, das and all their little variations. Gotta love English where everything is the by default. emoji

Am I the only one in here who hates dubbed movies or games? (I haven't watched the videos, though. But in Indonesia, they always use the same voice actors for like hundreds of different movies. So it's horrible)

I hate dubbed anime, but then again, I hate anime in general!
