Is it like an MMO or something? That when you walk around there's all kinds of other people around you? Cause that would be pretty cool. I saw the official announcement at the Spike Awards last year. They showed the very first draft of the game. With swimming and fish. Even back then it looked pretty cool!

Speaking of MMOs. I've been playing Star Wars: The Old Republic recently. As a BioWare junky I felt like I should try it. Even though I've never played MMOs, they're not my thing. Neither is this one. You're constantly watched and I even had to stand in line to activate a certain quest. emoji

Thanks to MGSV we're getting a lot of open world stealth games now, including this
I should expect no less from Japan.

Hmm.. not what I expected when I clicked on that link.

Btw. Ground Zeroes on PS4 is on sale for €15. Worth it for someone completely out of the loop?

GZ has almost no story at all outside of the optional tapes, it's really all about the gameplay.
And I'd say it's a good introductory point. The controls are buttery smooth and you're not forced to be stealthy, only if you want to.
The game's content also depends on how willing you are to 100% it. The game has a 90 minute main mission and 6 extra missions, each being about 15 minutes long. If you're going for every collectible then add an extra hour and if you're going for every S-Rank and mission trials then you might aswell say bye to your life emoji.

That actually sounds pretty good! Alright, I'm gonna watch some gameplay, do some research… and judge from that. Thanks!emoji

The developers (represented entirely by one guy) claim that it is the exact opposite of an MMO. Because the world is pretty much a full scale galaxy (which is a bit difficult to comprehend) you are very unlikely to run into people. But people can leave their mark in the world. For example, I am a pacifist by nature, so I'm not likely to wipe out any species or conquer worlds. Maybe when people start playing there will be clusters of worlds where players have been just obliterating everything, or worlds where players are trying to mine the planets dry of resources, or just massive sectors of unexplored planets your for the taking… until you run into an AI alien world littered with hostile creatures. Apparently those will exist, although be super rare.

Like 1 in every 10 planets will have intelligent life, and 1 in every 100 planets will have hostile life… something along those lines.

I just think that as time goes on people will try to gravitate towards one another, and apparently there will be ways to do this, and a way to communicate or something. The game is all about discovery and the unknown. The developers themselves don't know where what lies out there… and despite all of this, there will be a story that drives you to the centre of the Galaxy. Although it will not be a story you are told, you'll have to figure it out for yourself.

All of this just makes me really excited, and I honestly hope they don't tell us any more, I'd like to discover all of this, and they would like it that way too. And I have faith they will be true to their word.

If it's as cheap as you say it is, just buy it. If you watch any gameplay you'll spoil the entire game. It is extremely short, I got everything I needed out of it in one night… then again I don't really like replaying Metal Gear games, in this way I consider myself the most lousy Metal Gear fan, because they put a lot of effort into making their newer games have a lot of replayability after the story these days… at least I know the lore really well emoji

Really? The only MGS games I don't really replay are MGS1 and PW.
MGS1 being because I don't think the game is that fun without watchting the cutscenes, and PW because I feel like it's such a waste to delete my save with 70+ hours put into it.

With that said you should go back to GZ. They released Jamais Vu on the PS3 and PS4 version of the game.

I did the unspeakable… I rented Ground Zeroes. DUN DUN DUN!!!!

I couldn't replay MGS1 and 2 for obvious reasons. I played MGS3 a whole heap, but never really bothered to unlock anything. I played MGS4 a whole heap of times, but never bothered to unlock anything, I played MGS:PW once to the end of the actual end, and I just completed the story of Ground Zeroes.

I wanted to 100% MGS2 once… that was before I played the VR missions.

Much like MGS1, The VR missions are probably the best part of MGS2 gameplay-wise.
I agree that stuff like the sniper missions really suck, but other than that they're really enjoyable.
Also I've played through MGS4 more times than I can count, mainly because of the many ways you can customize Old Snake. It's really fun to see how cool and/or ridiculous you can make the game with a simple facecamo change.

I just found the lack in variety gameplay wise for MGS4 to be really hard to replay the game for. But I too love the customisation, and would really like to see that stuff in MGSV which has the potential to get me totally hooked.

Can't stand VR. Way too hard.

You make NMS sound like a master piece. I like the idea they have of making an entire new universe for all players to fit in. And I'm not sure if it still works the same way.. but no loading screens? You fly to a planet and land, you do the whole sequence.

And yes, GZ is really €15 ($22,58 AUD) here. I watched a couple of minutes of the first level, played by a fan of the series. It looked pretty cool! But when I bought my PS4, I decided I wanted to keep it as clean as possible. Meaning I want to beat every game I buy for it. And when I don't like a certain game, that becomes quite hard.

I don't always replay games either. Games I really love, but I wouldn't play again. An example is Final Fantasy XIII. Not only is it incredibly long and difficult… I wanna keep that first experience and remember it that way. I loved Uncharted 2 the first time, but when I played it again the new was gone. It was still good, but not as great as the first time.

I think it is as close to a masterpiece as a sci-fi game could be at this stage.

You should look at some gameplay, the entire world is procedually generated, and there are no loading screens, well maybe one at the start of the game Or perhaps travelling at wapr speed will be a loading screen as such. But nothing like what Ratchet & Clank do. I doubt you will ever simply watch your character do anything on its own.

This is a game I am willing to gamble on, and go into with as little information as I can… although I think it might be a little late for that.

As ambitious as it looks, it's still not a game I would play. My primal reason to play video games are stories. I find games are the best of story tellers. From what I know NMS is a game that gives you the freedom to create your own story. While the idea sounds nice, I prefer to play games with a beginning and an end. Which is why I might pick it up for PC later on. I rarely play on my laptop, but when I do.. it's just a short while because I wanna play something.

The reason I'm not hyped up for the game is because we haven't seen anything worthwhile yet.
All of the trailers just show either your character travelling through space or walking in very simplistic worlds.
What is the game itself? Is it a platformer, a FPS or a puzzle game?
We don't know because we haven't seen anything.

Not to mention that it has no story. It seems to be betting on its graphics and atmosphere to sell… meh…
