Thread: Pretty Random Movie Thread

You are worried the movie might be rated (effectively) 13+ and I'm worried it might be 3+

If the inclusion of a pop song featuring Courtney Gears is enough to put the game/movie up in the movie equivalent of "T", then the requirements for a T rating must be pretty tame… that or pop music is worse than I thought (I really wouldn't know).

Personally, I feel that the family-friendly nature of Ratchet & Clank is getting a bit annoying. I mean even a 10-year-old me would agree that All 4 One and Nexus don't feel like they are targeting the same audience Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal were.

It's hard to put my finger on it, but I feel that moments like Ratchet's chats with Susie in A4O and the ending of Nexus are incredibly cringe-worthy. I mean I don't mind a slowdown in pace for something serious like Azimuth in ACiT, but in A4O (at least) it just felt childish and completely illogical.

Nefarious is really the best example. He was cool in UYA, cool in ACiT, alright for the fist part of A4O, but from the middle of A4O onward, Nefarious changed in a way I will never accept. This was because there had to be an obvious lesson they learned, so everyone in the family playing the game could feel happy that in the end Nefarious was kind of changed by the adventure they had been on. Why does there always have to be a lesson?!

EDIT: After thinking for a few moments about Courtney Gears, I have to know… what is it about her that makes her bad enough to bump the rating up at all? Her music and lyrics are completely harmless.

Her sexualised appearance could be considered inappropriate for the lowest possible rating.

Right, so instead of being rated "Early childhood" it would be more like "Everyone". That makes sense, but I'd have thought all the killing would be the primary reason for this step up on the rating board.

Well, I imagine that if Courtney Gears had a considerable role in the movie, the MPAA would rate it PG for violence and suggestive themes (and whatever else there might be).

Okay, then. What I want from the movie is balance. Which means, it's enjoyable and suitable for children, but not lame for adults and teenagers. Besides, I hate sexual themes, and Courtney is, you know. And if I watch it together with my family and Courtney unexpectedly appears, probably my parents and sister are gonna look at me with an angry stare.

They wouldn't allow that. That'll make the movie rated "T", and from what I know, they are targeting audiences from all ages. (Besides, Courtney is what I hate from UYA).

Shouldn't the weapons themselves make the movie rated "T" ? Although there are different ratings by countries. I guess we care too much right now so we have to be careful about everything!

Ratings have dropped in years past. I'd imagine this movie to get a PG rating, and the game to get a E-10+.

Alright. Like I said, I want balance for the movie.

I thought it was gonna connect to the future series. You know, that moment when Ratchet and Drek talked about the Lombaxes, nice one by the way! emoji

Thank you! I wish I could have included a joke about Drek's first name being "Alanzo," but, eh, maybe next time emoji
I can't wait to finally get animating all the new stuff!

Am I the only one in here who just realized that the song from the movie's second trailer was from A4O?

Wow, what a reflex emoji Yup, the trailer uses three A4O tracks - the main theme (obviously) as well as the cutscene music from the Deadgrove intro (in the beggining) and the final scene (in the end).
