Thread: Sly Cooper Thread

So… They're testing different voices for Sly because… They didn't like it? I mean sure, Lara Croft has NEVER had the Same voice actor, but she is human and oud voices change. But Sly is a furry game character, hè didn't need the change.

You don't get a point of this - they're not looking for better Sly voice, they're looking for a more famous Sly voice, a surname that would attract the audience. It's quality isn't most important for them - if it was, they would just hire Kevin.

So basically: everything we know about the film so far is that it's a grotesque Hollywood-isation of a perfectly good franchise… How can this possibly go wrong(?)

Sexualized Carmelita that's how.

Ugh. I really hope not. It bugged me a lot in Thieves in Time.

I don't even know who the new actor is…

And Carmilita wering a skirt? That was a no-go for me too.

Excuse my typos. iPad

Kevin has that good tendency to be a good sport.

"Thanks again everyone for your support for me to return to being Sly in the Sly Cooper Movie. Again, I want to be clear, I'm not in charge of casting for the film. I don't know what plans they have for it and I believe they're figuring that out now while in production.

Of course I'd be thrilled to work with Blockade as they clearly do great work and have excellent taste in source material. But no matter who they select for the roll of Sly I'm sure he'll be fantastic and I"ll be first in line to see it when it comes out! I've already bought my popcorn!"

- Kevin Miller

On that other not, big names in movies never really attract me to go see them. I'm more interested in the movie itself than any of the actors.

Some people do look after celebrietes… Unfortunately emoji

There's a few (voice) actors I follow step by step. But its not like I'm going to watch something totally unfamiliar and hatefull just because Charlize Theron has a part in it.

Well look at the old Adam Sandler movies and Jim Carey movies, i'll watch them just because I know that back then those actors were pretty good.

I think some actors can have a big influence on how the movie turns out.

Sure it does. But big names! If a big name was voicing Sly, it would have made the 'Show News' by now. And I still can't find out who our mystery voice is…

Actually, it haven't been announced yet. In the trailer he's voiced by Ian James Corlett, but they hired him probably to make people used to the thought that Kevin Miller won't take a part in a movie.

EDIT
Official Thieves in Time soundtrack is 2 hours long. A full game rip is 10 times longer! More Peter McConnell goodness, yeah: http://forums.ffshrine.org/f72/%5Bgame%5D-sly-cooper-thieves-time-various-artists-138937/

You don't think they did the voice job yet? Usually thats pretty much the first thing that happens and after they start to built the movie.

Here's their statement:

Please know, the cast of the Sly Cooper movie has not been finalized. Though we are fans of Kevin Miller's work, as well as all those who were part of the great Sly Cooper games, we cannot comment on who will be in the film at this time. We greatly appreciate everyone's comments and support for Sly Cooper, and will make sure to keep this all in mind as we enter production.

Aha, I see. You think there's still a chance they'll ask Kevin Miller for Sly?

There is, but not really big. They want to promote the movie with a famous name instead of staying true to the cast. And that's completely understandable… for Kevin Miller as well:

I just want everyone to know I'm in full support of this project whether I'm the voice of everyone's favorite Master of All Thieves or not. If you've followed any of my social medias you'll know I'm equal parts "voice of Sly" and "fanboy for Sly." For over a decade I've dreamed of our Ringtail breaking into other mediums and I'm down right thrilled to see this happening.

At least he can, for once, see it as a fan instead of something he worked on. (Believe me, totally different expierences:rireemoji

How do you know… Is there something we don't know about you? Yet? emoji

Well… when you work on a game you always want to tweak things, you see way more things that are wrong and take you out of the experience than when its someone else's. Voice actors, too, always talk about how they want to do that one sentence one more time.
