You'll figure it out one day. It helps to just ignore Z. Z is a bonus

(I kind of get the feeling my vague responses are not helping)

Is this like righty tighty, lefty loosey? Because then is LIES!

Ever wondered what happens when you forget to make Z up instead of Y in the Unreal Engine? I'm sure you haven't, but here's the asnwer anyway!

Sort of. I just heard some kid in maths a few years ago telling his mate that an easy way to remember the axis labels for Y and X are that X is a cross (or X is across), and Y is to the sky (because the Y axis points up).

Therefore the only remaining axis is the (usually left out) Z axis for those fancy 3D shapes everyone loves so much.

Shouldn't you know your axis pretty well though, Heather?

EDIT: Your picture reminds me of the way the creeper was made in Minecraft. It was just a pig model, that had it's rotation on it's body screwed up.

Is there even a reason for them not to be properly labeled?
Seems to me like it's just complicated for the sake of being complicated.

Thing is, I work with both Unity and Unreal 4. Y is up in Unity and Z is up in Unreal. So I have to change my prefrences to which axis should be up in my modeling software. And sometimes… I forget to do that. emoji

Oh I see where the confusion is coming from then. That was a bad idea on their behalf to make Z be up in Unreal.

I don't know why either. But in my early days it caused a lot of confusion. emoji

Is it me or does it get on your nerves when people talk about your spelling mistaks

Uh, yeah. And excuse me, you made a spelling error there.

and… you failed my test good job emoji

That's some food for thought emoji

Speaking about languages again, I find Indonesian quite unique, because we call some objects like they come from a certain place.
Examples:

-Kunci inggris (wrench, literally "English key"emoji
-Jeruk bali (a type of orange, literally "Balinese orange"emoji
-Terong belanda (tamarillo, literally "Dutch eggplant"emoji

(Bra) Bustenhouder - boobholder
(Gloves) Handschoenen - handshoes
(I don't care) zou me een worst zijn - it shall me be a sausage

I like those silly childish things better ^^

Let me open my Czech book and find out what kind of words were created or could've been during the national rebirth/renaissance, an event of propagation of the Czech language against the German/Austrian back in the 18th/19th century:

Some element names that exist:
hydrogen = "vodík" = waterey, or something like that?
carbon = "uhlík" = coaley
calcium = "vápník" = limey

That could've been:
chrome = "barvík" = colorey
chlorium = "solík" = saltey
phosphorus = "kostík" = boney

And some words that could've been:
hose = "chlustka" = spitter
piano = "kladkobřinkostroj" = clapdingmachine
handkerchief = "nosočistoplena" = nosecleandiaper
student = "knihovtipník" = bookjoker

Yeah…

Nosecleandiaper… That's fantasticemoji
