At this exact moment, it is raining, and lightning has flashed in the sky twice now. It isn't cracking though, so not really that exciting I suppose.

Still, I love a good thunderstorm. emoji
But only when I'm home and took all of my power cords out of their outlets. Y'know, just in cas… oh, my gosh! I just caught a fly out of the air with my hand! Something to take of my bucket list.

You do enjoy thunderstorms? Come to Bogor during the rain season then. Just stay till you experience a storm here. Storms are scary here. Though it's safe indoors, the thunders are loudly scary. But, I am aware that there are still some places that have worse storms than in here.

When there's a thunderstorm here I usually go outside and watch the lightning over the lake. It's very relaxing.

I'm sure it's not as loud (and dangerous) as over where you live.emoji

Thunderstorms? Can't say I remember us having such a thing in a long time. It's just that sometimes during a rainy night we might be lucky to catch some lightning or, even more occasionally, the roar of a little thunder.

When we do have thunderstorms though, we don't really do anything about it. You're probably more likely to suffer from a solar flare than get hurt by any amount of electricity.

My grandparents house got hit by lightning last year. All tech that was plugged in was gone. Laptop, TV etc. Although I live in the north and they lived in the south. A 3 hour ride and the climate is already completely different. emoji

Wow. I mean the worst I'd ever heard of 'round these parts was our neighbors transformer getting hit. It took out their and our power, but nothing was damaged, because that just seems to be the way it works.

They were hiding Optimus Prime, wow!

Here some people have a little metal rooster on their house. It's supposed to channel the lightning into the ground, but I'm not sure thies ancient tech actually works.

Maybe lightning is more aggressive where you live.

I forgot when it happened, back then we experienced a storm, and after that we found out that our modem was broken. Probably got struck by the lightning. So, note to self and everyone: always unplug your modem during thunderstorms.

They're very very very rare and usually very minor. But sometimes we experience a code yellow.

Exactly! You can also get an expensive safety box. But I have all my consoles plugged into one of these:

I always turn it off when I'm done playing. But I wonder, does it harm your console when you remove the power outlet everything you stop playing (after it's completely turned off of course), no right?

Safety box?

Safety box?

You can get some kind of extender that will absorb the lightning, protecting your tech. emoji

Are you talking about lightning rods? The things that only the Czech believe were not invented by Benjamin Franklin?

As much as they look ancient, I think they work. I may have got a B in Physics a few times but I believe that when lightning strikes, it goes the very quoted 'path of least resistance' to the ground. Apparently that's the metal rod, since it goes straight to the ground. I have no idea if it is better for the lightning goes through metal or air, but it somehow works because otherwise people wouldn't happily ugly up their houses with those.
