Skidd McMarxx all the way, dude! He's probably my favorite PS2 exclusive character. As for the Plumber, he made it to the PS3 era, so I'm going to assume he's in this game, too.

We know the Plumber has to return, because he just has to. And I would rather see Skid than Helga.
As for Lawrence. Weather he shows up or not, anyone could really go with Nefarious, because go goes well with all people. Imagine if Skid was his sidekick. That would be fun, and make for a rather interesting final boss fight.

It would still be a better plot twist than the Raiden twist in Metal Gear Solid 2.
